Chromecast in SA.

If you have a Nexus Tablet with the latest firmware - you can even mirror the tablet to it.
and I finally found out why there was a special - seems there was a number of them - it was the 1'st birthday of the ChromeCast.
Now the question comes to mind - when is version 2 due and what will it have?

Needs a Lan port....

Sorry another stupid question...

If I have a chromecast in my TV and browse a YouTube video on my phone, I can select to cast that clip onto the TV.

Does the data route through my phone to the chromecast or does the data go direct to the chromecast?

Ie. Will this bugger my battery life using it all day long

Everything streams directly on the Chromecast. The phone only serves as a remote of sorts.

Value for money. Highly impressed at how tiny this device is and how much power it has under the hood.... Picture quality is excellent except had issues with sound.

Managed to mirror my entire desktop without any hiccups whatsoever. Prefer Google Chromecast than my Smart TV brilliant product cannot wait for more updates to come out.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what version OS Google Chrome is using..

Getting on the bandwagon after the last Takealot special. I am very impressed with the device - even though I have only used it for Chrome Tab mirroring and Youtube casting. Youtube streamed flawlessly with great picture and sound quality. I found the experience to be better than the similar Youtube app on my PS3. I streamed some DSTV catch up titles from Chrome, which worked decently, but the picture was degraded and I had some buffering issues on my 2Mb line. Not sure if my pc, Chrome or my line was the source of the grainy picture.

I asked the question on the DSTV forum - it would be mighty nice to have the DSTV tablet app get Chromecast compatibility.

I just hope they don't crosscheck my username and see that I belong to this forum, since myBB members are generally not customers and therefore, we matter even less than other customers.

Got my Chromecast yesterday - VERY impressed with how well it works, especially now that it can screen cast/mirror my phone (SGN3)! The Netflix issue is a bummer though, as I don't have the know-how to hack my router... is there a step-by-step guide? I have a Netgear DGN2200.

Hack? Er. No. You just set your DNS settings to the 2 nodes Unotelly has locally and that's it. Hacking is when you gain unauthorized access to data in a system or computer

So unless you're asking for advice on how to break into someone's Netgear DGN2200, I'm pretty sure you don't need to hack anything.

Does chromecast support casting Supersport to the tv? no issues with the flash player?

I use it for this purpose, either cast my screen on my note 3 or cast the tab from chrome, although I found that there was lag between the laptop and the chromecast. The picture will play smooth on the laptop screen but stutter on the tv after a while, I switched to the phone and it was ok.
