Cities: Skylines

Come a few months time you'll see the joys of having a steam account?

Steam Sales

This is why I tried to avoid this..... damnit, now my card is gonna cry :(

Played for about 5 minutes this morning.. few random UI niggles for me (but they're personal preferences more than anything else), but overall I'm impressed by my short interaction.. will play some more later this evening... and abuse the fsck out of it this long weekend.

Found two very usefull mods that don't really alter the game too much..

Autosave
Autobulldoze - really neat bulldozes abandoned buildings automatically.

Here is my fav mods:

Played for like 2 hours last night.. actually lost track of time for a bit.. city is up to 6000 population relatively quickly...

Now I need to start paying attention to things, and designing properly though... just been expanding randomly for the moment.

This is going to sound pretty pathetic but I've been wanting to buy a gaming pc for ages and Cities: Skylines pushed me into doing it. Just made the purchase through Wootware. I think I'll get my parts next week. Can't wait :)

Congrats :)
Always fun to build and spec your own PC.

How well will it play on my laptop, my i7 2.9 GHz CPU, 16 GB RAM and 250 GB SSD is fine but the GPU is an integrated Intel HD 4000. From reading other forums it seems it should run but not great. Anyone tried it with integrated graphics?

Run it on low/medium with the shadows off.

Drop the resolution as well.

I find the game is a bit on the easy side? I know its not meant to be super hard, but there could be more challenges.

Natural disasters, power stations blowing up, water flow changing direction etc.

I read on the forums that one player, do to the amount of water pumps he had, started sucking sewerage water upstream into his water supply.

Yeah, run it on low. You will still get some lag but it will be playable.

Hard mode mod, problem solved

I ran it on my PC like this for about a week while waiting for my card to arrive. Changed all settings to low. When the city got to about 50000 I was not able to run the game at 3x speed anymore, it stayed on the same speed all the time. Not sure if this was due to graphics card.

Installed new card yesterday and was able to adjust speed again.

Edit: Google confirmed the above issue, depending on PC specs the game will slow down when the city gets bigger.

Well I finally caved and bought Cities: Skylines. Got it downloading now. Any particularly useful posts in this thread for a noob starting out? Seems a lot can go wrong with your cities in this game.

Get mods, especially for traffic.

Circular cities are somewhat popular.
