Cities: Skylines

It's sad that I have to turn the visuals down after my City gets to a certain size. Does anyone want to donate some components?:D The traffic is poor in the game. The developers said their previous game was a traffic simulator but it doesn't look like that. I don't know how traffic works in Finland but here in South Africa you wait when you want to turn right at an intersection, you don't just go. The other cars have to wait then. It would also be nice if you could program the traffic lights yourself.

The walkways look great, I'll try some when I play again. I hope this thread becomes active again.:)

There are mods for decreased performance hit and better traffic ai amongst other things, if you don't mind losing the ability to get steam achievements.
 
Had another go at creating a city.

For my standards its huge can't keep track most services.

I will be playing some Cities: Skylines this easter weekend.

Thinking it's time to start a new city.
 
Here's my current city, my biggest so far. I only have a few traffic problems here and there, but overall, it's smooth sailing throughout the city.

Has anyone played Mass Transit? The Steam reviews are really positive. Most say that the best improvements come with the free patch, making most traffic mods unnecessary. I'll probably download it tonight.

Edit: Played it for a couple of hours today and it's great. They've added a few nice touches which makes monitoring public transport very easy. You can easily see if you need more/less vehicles on a line. "Traffic behaviour" is more polished.

At home sick so I'm finally continuing to build my ultra dense city.

One thing that I hate about playing this game slowly is the mods keep rolling in. It slowed down a bit so I can build stuff without bashing my head against the desk struggling with smooth interchanges and whatnot only to have the move it tool come in destroying 3 hours of building.

Edit: Though I'll have to rebuild my nuclear powerplant cause I now have the on scale assets and props and stuff.

New Expansion: Green Cities

The new expansion came out yesterday. I didn't know that they were going to release a new expansion. The reviews are really good so far, though, I'm still going to test it out before I buy it.

Decided to pick this up again for a bit. Going to try get a non grid city to 100k without traffic killing everything. There's 4 intersections that I need to redo though since I got overkeen with the amount of dense zoning and traffic flow is dropping to 75% :X3:

I think I am at 260k with 67% traffic flow, but my trains are stuck getting out of city as there to many trains.

I really like how your city is build etc, very nice flow to it for the traffic

Thanks, but it's going to be a long road - I'm at 50k now but my poor old PC is crying. I think my almost 10 year old CPU is not so happy with me anymore :p
 
I can't enjoy the game on my laptop so I haven't played it for a year and a half. :crying:

I moved and gave my desktop to my parents. If the city gets to a reasonable size (not even that big) the frame rate drops below 10 fps.
 
Finally made it to 100k, the game has become really slow now. I also had to go find alternative train stations since I could fit 3 lines into the center of one of the towns. Overall pretty satisfied with how it turned out, I think I'll try my hand at another map and then leave the game for a bit (need time to convince the SO to allow for PC upgrades :p)

Everyone's cities always look so nice, mine just looks like a breadboard all square and so on.

At least my air is clean though so I can see the city :)
