To answer your question. within the next 3 years. Pray and maybe you'll get VDSL sooner.

if you PM me your number sometime I can give you an estimated date.

Anyone else dead as a doornail connected to Clareinch ?

Hi,
I haven't had any issues.. yesterday or today. I did tkae a peak at my downloads @ 3am, and they were going at pretty much full speed as well.

I'm on Vox / Telkom ISP's if that matters

My modem isn't syncing at all at the moment. Started yesterday afternoon, connected to Clareinch.

Sat on the line for 25mins yesterday, been 21 minutes so far today. Still waiting for the SMS from the online service...ho, hum.

Anyone have any sort of ETA on the VDSL Telkom is supposedly rolling out in Claremont? The Telkom coverage map has been light green around claremont for quite a few months now and they had an announcement saying their roll-out should be completed in March 2015? I haven't seen any MSAN installations around the area though :/ Dont care so much for the speed, but if its more stable than ADSL, I'll sign up as soon as its available...

Soo tired of internet issues... max sync at 3-4 mbps even though telkom is insisting we can do 10 mbps -_- and the random 50% packetloss moments.... soo nice for gaming...

I got VDSL a few weeks ago. Just don't do it.

They first moved me to 20mb ADSL, which doesn't give you the 2mb upload which is the main reason why I wanted VDSL. I also had already bought a VDSL router so I decided to phone. Well, in total I had to spend over 10 hours on hold to get through to people who had no idea what I was talking about. Very few knew what VDSL was let alone why my router wasn't using it. Kept getting told their department didn't deal with it and got transferred to another department only to wait hell of a long time more to get told everything is fine. Was told 4 times they'd phone me back and 3 times that they'd send a tech out. None of that happened.

Eventually my internet stopped working at all (got no dsl sync) and I logged a fault via sms. Took them a day to respond and finally a day later a tech who knew what was going on came round. He checked everything and even replaced my ancient cable from the pole to my house. Suddenly I got VDSL sync and it was awesome:

A day after he leaves and my line changes to:

When I had 10mb ADSL I used to get 7ms! I got no idea what the hell changed. My average call wait time before being answered was 45min and I just don't have the time/energy/willpower to try and sort this out. Call center is only going to get worse now that the Telkom staff are going to strike because of retrenchments.

Maybe you'll get luckier than I was but my suggestion is just don't. It's not worth it. My ping is now terrible and all I wanted was the 2mb upload and I don't even get that :/

TL: DR Got 20mb VDSL. Had to phone Telkom, a piece of me died inside. Didn't get what I was meant to.

At the moment i think anything will be better than what we currently have to deal with. average ping we have is >50, maximum stable line sync speed is ~3mbps instead of 10.

I'm expecting it will be a mission to get telkom to sort things out, but hopefully I will have better internet in the end.

Will give them a call today and see what they say about VDSL coverage because AfriHost claimed Telkom told them 'no VDSL' some time in December.

Also, Some people have mentioned they can get VDSL but only 20mbps - which indicates that no Fibre is involved because ADSL can actually go to 24mbps... so they MAY have sold you 'VDSL'
