It's very likely they turned it on far from where they live and with easy getaway from two sides of that bush.
 
Every time I see this thread it reminds of of Little Pony.

They stole the missus' i7 last week before I loaded it onto insurance. We don't know iPhones or Apple (making the switch gradually now) and got this text. Stupidly I complied. I was in a rush. The misspelled name was a giveaway but I know we typed a name like that in too so my haste handed them the Apple ID and they were able to deactivate it when they did a restore. Expensive lesson but learnt it now.

That's racist. Where I live you could be locked up for that.
 
Just remember that clicking the website means you could also be running all sorts of scripts and browser exploits.

So yes, go visit the site from a machine that you don't care about - but not from your daily machine. You could be exposing a lot of info that you are not aware of.
