Because they are gay or because of their personalities/character?

Hmmmm...
Good question.

It is a combination of factors for me.
Most are completely incapable of separating their personality from their homosexuality.
For me it is as natural as my brown hair. It is what it is.

I find it inherently annoying that their sexual preference overshadows their personality, almost to a point, defines it.

Nor do I.
Most gay people bore me.
Too concerned about themselves to be able to hold a conversation about current affairs, discuss the philosophical nuances of life much less understand the word nuance. :(

You can say that again.

The gay 'scene' isn't all that different to the straight 'scene' -- all of it is filled with remarkably similar people with the same calibre of self-absorbed egotism, small-mindedness and stupidity.

We were invited to go out with a group of (straight) people a few months ago who are very much into deafening clubs and heavy drinking, and, honestly... we just felt old. After thirty minutes or so we went home.

Give me a nice quiet candle-lit table at a restaurant and some pleasant company and I'm happy.

Sometimes I think I was just born old :p

Hello stranger!
It is great to see you! :D

I can do the clubs and I can do the crowds. Love the feeling of being in a throng of people.
I do love a chilled evening with great friends with a few bottles of good wine and chatting and relaxing.

you will find that is often the case with younger people, usually up to around 25 or so - the binding fabric of their social circles is often little more than their homosexuality.
as they mature a little, the homosexuality becomes less of a defining characteristic, often the members of these groups drift apart finding their own place in the world, personalities & character develops when away from the very group that initially served to define their very being.

True and a very good point.
Unfortunately I am far too impatient for them to mature.
At that age they tend to be cock-fodder and nothing else.

You've described personal preference.....got nothing to do with sexual orientation

Ps. Think I'm not on same wavelength here....

Errrr...I will try.

Example 1:
Active stereotypical behavior and body language as purported by society i.e. effeminate mannerisms etc.

Example 2:
Discussing homosexual life (sex, clothing etc.) as if it is the totality of existence. Lack a complete frame of reference to reality and current affairs.

Hell, I never went through that and I came out at 14.

I can sort of understand the need for a sense of community that you identify but I've never had anything in common with most gay people I came across apart from the obvious.

I don't think we've missed anything :)

meaning to be comfortably normal in your skin ..behaviour inside & outside of home should be the same?
Directly linked to maturity level I would think.
