I would hope so. Why would you not want to brand your own country. Anyway who wants to be associated with the stupid Americans?

The absolute idiocy of this post is astounding.

You guys need more coffee so you can take your happy pills.

I was KIDDING!!!!!!

and to think it's only Tuesday......................

Nice to see the obvious confirmed. I wonder how much the confirmation cost us.

You would need to ask rpm or one of the mods how much it costs to setup a poll on this forum.

Also 2 people voted .com wth? Are you guys the same people who think that its fair to pay the telkom double tax of phone line and adsl line?

I voted .com purely because of the APIs and modern management tools you get with them (web based registration and changes, etc). Managing and registering .co.za domains using the email submission system we are stuck with is a PITA, especially for people who have to register a large amount of domains. If ZADNA and Uniforum can catch up to the 21st century, I'll definately start using co.za as my first choice.

Besides, the .co part means Company. What if my site is not a company? We really need more .za TLDs cause .co just don't work for everyone.

I think we should be allowed to register domains directly under the .ZA TLD. For e.g. google.za or myBroadband.za. Having the .co part just lengthen's the domain name unnecessarily, without adding more meaning.

We all know that ZA stands for South Africa and ZAR for South Africa Rands. We don't need .co in the middle. Would make it easier for online businesses to register their business names to be the same as their domain name.

E.g. tekkies.za, biltong.za, etc.. Nobody is going to register their business as tekkies.co.za or biltong.co.za. It's just too long, and looks kinda clumsy and stupid.

The problem is that we already have these;

* ac.za
* agric.za
* alt.za
* bourse.za
* city.za
* co.za
* cybernet.za
* db.za
* edu.za
* gov.za
* grondar.za
* iaccess.za
* imt.za
* inca.za
* landesign.za
* law.za
* mil.za
* net.za
* ngo.za
* nis.za
* nom.za
* olivetti.za
* org.za
* pix.za
* school.za
* tm.za
* web.za

We probably need a few more like clan.za or family.za.

It's no secret the .co.za domain name reg system is in a shambles (which is why ISP's charge more due to the admin) and R50 for domain name reg is true if you want to deal with the nightmare that is Uniforum directly. The .com domain registration process is simply more streamlined and I'm proud to support whomever makes my life easier.

Yeah, Uniforum suck so badly. I really wish someone willing to do some work would take over control of the domains.

It sucks - but i have no issue with it bar the delays when updating DNS. Seriously how difficult is it to send an email?

Dunno about this. I've been registering domains with them for the last 15 years or so and whilst the process is certainly not automated it's normally pretty efficient. The secret is working out what works for them and then fit in.

You never read the articles - do you?

ZADNA is just another "Authority" to be loaded by ANC people paid for by the tax payer/ and or domain name users.

It won't take much for people to dump .ZA registrations.

Previously there were reports that users would be forced to line the pockets of "licensed registrators" = ANC filled empty black holes BEEEE accredited units to register .za domains.

Sorry, I'm preparing to move as many as possible .ZA domains to .COM

The objective is to feed as few as possible ANC appointees as possible
