COD4 or BioShock?

I have just finished, ok well I thought I had finished COD4 on xbox 360, so there is that extra VIP mission after the credits which I need to finish, but I am blown away by this game, and it isn't even one I was anticipating.
I read a few reviews claiming the SP was short - which btw it is definitely not, so I decided to start the SP play on hard (or what ever the level below veteran is called) and it was intense, but thoroughly enjoyable game play.
I don't think I have come across any game with such diversity in game playing, missions and high level of AI. I think the only reason there may have been some complaints of short game play, is that it is so disappointing when the game is over.
Personally I think a few less checkpoints could double the game play, but either way, it is so diversified - one minute you on a ship, then in Russia, then in the middle east, guarding tanks, shooting rpgs, doing the mission in the plane, saving captain whatshisname, man it just goes on and on.
The AI in some cases is just outstanding and the graphics with night-vision WOW- you do a move and get shot, so you get to the same place and anticipate the same thing and guess what the shooter has moved - or you wound someone, they fall down, but they either then whip out a pistol or lob a grenade at you - just friggen awesome, if I haven't mentioned.
Multi Player, just as cool, though it is a problem with our narrowband adsl -you either wait forever for a game, or you shoot and shoot but the person just does not die, why because of a fraction of a lag they are not really where you think you see them.
Anyhow, to confirm, if you have not decided, COD4 - definitely a 9.5 game.

BTW was I the only person who didn't know there was this VIP mission after the credits?

Furnic, what's your gamertag? add me and FoF my list there's usually 2-3 joinable local games.

But yeah awesome game. I'm playing on Veteran and this has got to be the first game that makes me k@k myself thinking about people who actually find themselves in warzones.

I am debating whether to get Bioshock or not. I played the Demo and it seems to me like it is a poor man's System Shock 2.

@pkid - Bioshock was made by the same guys that made System Shock 2, and it's critically regarded as superior in almost every way, and was either voted GOTY or runner up by most game sites. It's a great deep thinkers game.

If you just want to shoot stuff get CoD4.

COD4 get's my vote.
But if you're into games like Bioshock, get Bioshock ;)
Or, get copies of both and try both and then buy the one you want ;)

Thats a good way of solving the problem.

@doobiwan - The Bioshock story line looked like it could be better than the System Shock 2 one. I miss the weapons that need to be maintained or they break. Also didn't seem as scary as SS2.

That might be because I am older now and the demo is short to be fair to the game. I will definately pick up a copy when it costs less than R450 for a copy of the PC version. Still seems to be better than a lot of other FPS out there.

BTW was I the only person who didn't know there was this VIP mission after the credits?

I noticed it when i went Mission Select a few days after i clocked the game :p

yeah i will be playing online a lot. so cod4 it is then. any of u guys have mass effect?

Yes, I have Mass Effect.
Just buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

As for COD4 vs Bioshock, they are completely different games and it will depend what type of gemas you prefer.
I personally love the twisted reality that Bioshock creates, there is not other game like it at the moment and i dont think that ther wil be any other game like for a while!

COD4 is great in it's own right but if you ahve a PC that can run the games, get the demos and then see which one you prefer.

You are actually closer...
I know about them, but they ripped me a new one when I did a few trade-ins and I am trying to avoid them.
I have a BT games in Durbanville, they are quite good.

Maybe I should try and give them a bash - need to get rid of my PGR3 and DOA4. I am desperate to get rid of them.

I've heard CoD4 is very short ... my brother finished it seriously quick, and he's not a huge gamer :/

Depends how you play it. If you stick it on easy, you can clear it in 6 hours. It took me ~20 hours on veteran . . . . .

Kage, it's all about knowing your stuff and what's valuable, and what's in oversupply. Bundle games, Launch games and Classics don't get good trade in values.

Bioshock is a masterpiece. CoD 4 was really good as well but I enjoyed every thing about Bioshock more.
