Codecs?

Seeing OS X cannot play all media ootb is there a codec pack you guys can recommend?

I know I can use VLC but just wondering if there is another option.

Edit: I might add that I'm generally wary of these codec packs as they can contain some crap codecs and the stuff has a way to imbed itself into the OS. I already have Perian, Flip4Mac & XiphQT downloaded but not installed.

Perian, Flip4Mac and VLC is all I use and have installed.

Agreed, with Perian and Fip4Mac there's not much that can't be played. Personally I don't use VLC other than for the libraries that Handbrake needs for ripping DVDs.

+1 for Perian. I cant think of the last time I needed to fire up VLC.
