Personal Experiences - Samsung TV's

I'm probably going to go with the LG OLED 65 CS now but it's a tough decision.
What is the CS?

Someone on the other thread said it wasn't great. Not that I'm in the market for a TV - but hypothetically is it preferable to go C1 if you can find ?

I was going to pull the trigger on the 65QN90B this morning but when enquiring about the Samsung Signature Service they told me they have done away completely with the 5 year warranty, so now the warranty on the QN90B is only extended to 3 years. Not happy, since Samsung's website still lists the signature service for this TV to be total 5 years warranty.

Where did you get that information from? They still offer the 5 years warranty according to Samsung themselves who the warranty is held with. Phone Samsung, 0860 7267 864 , and they will confirm for you. You can also confirm the warranty left by giving them the S/N on the back of your TV.

I know on some 2021 models they dropped the warranty to only 1 year extra as when I bought my 50" QN90A a few weeks back, the guy at The Digital Experience had a list with the extended warranties and this TV was one of them. The 2022 Neo QLED's however still have 5 years total.

I believe the price of the 65" QN90B has come down to around R35K

The CS uses the same OLED panel and components as last year's C1 but with the 2022 alpha 9 gen 5 processor instead of gen 4. They basically used leftover parts for the CS range.

I did phone Samsung's store at Century City to be sure. The manager himself checked and called me back. They have not changed the info yet on their website, but it is definitely now reduced to 3 years. Before that I asked 2 other stores (Hirschs and Audio Vision) that offer the Samsung Signature Service as well.

There is much confusion on this

I phones Hirsch Waterfall, they said its now 2 + 2 years.

I phoned Samsung Customer care, they said its still 2 + 3 years

I phoned the Samsung Store in Mall of Africa, they said its now 2 + 1 years.

Samsung Store's parent company is Audiovision. Juan from Audiovision called me back to say the maximum warranty was reduced from 5 years to 3 years. Unless you pay extra for the extended maintenance plan which gives 2 + 2 years.

They were probably losing quite a bit on warranty's as they just a few unreliable sets

My TV started doing this after just over a year. Obviously the camera is adding hugely to the photo - but in a dark scene in a dark environment, it was exceptionally obvious.

In fairness, they did replace the panel - but it was doing the same thing to a far less extent.

Eventually they gave me a whole new TV that is now over 3 years old and have zero complaints.

What model was the faulty one?

Was it not difficult mounting the TV bracket with that stone cladding on the wall? Looks very nice, but how did you get that right?

The faulty was a 2017 Q7F

I actually just got someone else to mount the Q7F - and the replacement Q70R Samsung warned me not to mount myself or I void the warranty. Needed to wait for them ... I think that they felt I did something to break the Q7F during mounting *shrug*.

One issue I've had since the replacement is that Q70R doesn't have the One Connect and all the cables needed to run to the TV ... which I never planned. So the channel was too small for so many cables :/

Could you tell me who did the render on your wall?

Perfect, thank you.

Soon I will also navigate the minefield of QN90B or CS.
I think if I did it now, I'll look at the CS - pending the price .

So the reason I went QLED up front was :

*The OLED at the time was a good R12,000+ more expensive than the QLED . I picked up a pre-owned set of Kef LS50 for the difference I saved
*The lounge is bright with 2 windows and the sliding door. The QLED is bright enough to overcome reflections etc (I think the Q7F was 1,500 nit - they lowered it on the Q70R). When the lights are off though, I do wish for an OLED
*Image Retention was a concern as at that stage, I played games and I was concerned about HUDs .

I had a LG plasma and the retention killed me on scenes shifting from white to black (disappearing credits were the worst!)

Good luck though

I bought a Samsung QLED Q70A 55inch, picture quality is good, gaming is good with HDMI 2.1, remote feels good in the hand, build quality is good but has bad blooming, black levels are not good. Disney+ runs better on the Xiaomi MiBox too. Wish I spent more and went for an OLED. Will seriously consider another brand on next purchase of a TV.

Seems standard. I was told by that to qualify for the extra warranty from Samsung Signature Service I can't wall mount it myself, and have to pay them R650 extra to do it even though I already have a wall mount.
