Don't forget with even more goals. Xavi sits in front of his defence while Cesc is often found in the box or latching onto through balls like a goal getter ought to be doing.
 
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque refused to criticise Holland for their approach.

:) - I just want to say thank you to Vicente del Bosque for showing Cesc the light - showing him what is in store for him at the Barca.

As a result Cesc bought himself a new place in Hertfordshire - chances of him leaving this season has gone down somewhat now - so even if he goes the poor okes down Barca way can't afford him even if they wanted to.

Here's hoping Mediapro goes bankrupt altogether and the £ 150 mill Barca broadcast money goes belly up.

Now that will be really funny.

You have to admire the manner in which Arsenal have acquitted themselves throughout this whole sordid affair and I have an image in my mind (next to the one of Drew Barrymore and some whipped cream) of Barca chief Sandro Rosell looking at his watch whilst holding a large bag of money and wondering where Mr. Wenger is.

Del Bosque admits that with Fabregas in the team spain played better. But the barca supporters keep running him down now that it is clear that he is not going anywhere.

Nice quote from Fabregas in the papers this morning:

"All I can say is that this World Cup victory is for all the Arsenal players and fans, they are a world-class club," he declared.

"I am an Arsenal player and proud to be."

Hope this ends soon - He is a quite a player and I hope he stays in England - Arsenal need players like him and it bodes well for competition (I'm a United supporter by the way:)

I don't think it's that simple, I think they have very different styles. It's like comparing Iniesta to Xavi.

That's not enough in my book, he should of been wearing an Arsenal scarf after the game to make it clear he was staying at Arsenal.

I agree with Rhandir and poolmania - Cesc and Xavi are two different types of players and really shouldn't be compared like for like.

though I have to say... Iniesta was not that great in the final - he messed up a few chances to bury the game before the final whistle by being overly greedy. there were a few times when he could have put David Villa though on goal by himself. Xavi was masterclass though, every time h decided to make something in the box was a nail in the coffin of Netherlands. Absolutely class!

'Amazing how' you fail to read an entire post before spewing up the daily dose of Cantera Garbage.

My comments were not with regard to your precious Spain team nor the players within the squad or how they behaved or performed during the tournament - My comments were exclusively (and I did spell that out for you - knowing how predictable you are) centered around the fact that Cesc came on and changed the game (i.e. THE WORLD CUP FINAL - not matches pre-final...THE actual final. Clear enough, Cantera?) for Spain with his 'quick passing and freshness' is how I remember putting it.

Fabregas "proud to be" at Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas has hailed Arsenal as a "world-class club" and suggested he is ready to stay next season.

Fabregas had earlier indicated that he wanted to return to Barcelona this summer but, given the current economic difficulties at the club, it appears new president Sandro Rosell is unwilling to pay big money for the player.

Following Spain's victory over Netherlands on Sunday, Fabregas said: "All I can say is that this World Cup victory is for all the Arsenal players and fans. They are a world-class club. I am an Arsenal player and proud to be."

Fabregas also revealed his first thought after beating Netherlands was to console Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie.

"The first thing I had to do after the final whistle was go to Robin," he said. "Instead of celebrating with my friends, I wanted to talk to him. He has been injured a lot and if it wasn't us he was playing against, it would have been different. I just hope he has his chance again, because he is a great guy and a great leader."
