Comes on, turns off after 2/3 seconds

Hi all,

I have a BenQ T2200HD which comes on, then after 2 / 3 seconds turns off.

What could be the problem?

Is it repairable?

I have 2 - so I'd hate to replace it because I'd sit with a odd one again - I'm hoping it's repairable.

Probably bad caps in the power supply section. Everything is repairable. Question is, is it worth repairing.

I can't really afford to go and buy 2 monitors now - and yes, 2 because if I get 1 new monitor, having a different 2nd monitor would piss me off (yes, I'm like that)

Best would be to take it into a local repair shop for a quote. If its bad caps and the repair guys know what they are doing it should be easy enough to repair.

2 second to off syndrome - typical for monitors with CCFL backlit.
Most likely one CCFL backlit tube is blown and takes to much current triggering protection, but second cause could be a faulty high tension transformer. Repairable, but there are difficulties in getting parts. Checking for bulged capacitors is always worth to try.

Cash Register Tape.

I thought OP was talking about computer monitors but I see now he's actually having problems printing receipts for his customers.

Give http://microvolt.co.za/ a call. I've referred some other forumnites to them for board level repairs and they got sorted out.

There is a company in Pinelands that we take all our faulty monitors, laptops, printers and even tv's. Company's name is Mosfet Computers.
