Dissapointed in MTM

Hi, I don’t really care what the rest of you guys think, I’m with the OP on this one. I’m sick and tired of MTN screwing around with it’s customers, for more than six years I’ve been a loyal MTN supporter, but that has changed, now they are nothing more than a disappointment. Here is my MTN complaint on hellopeter.co.za... http://www.hellopeter.co.za/mtn-billing-accounts-%5B287078%5D

Personally I've started to complain a lot on hellopeter.com when I cannot or don't get customer satisfaction direct from the service provider or retailer and more often than not the issue gets resolved timeously.

I'm not a big fan of Peter and his methods of perhaps extorting money out of "companies who respond" and "companies that don't" but at the end of the day a lot of the companies listed on his site as companies that do respond take complaints very seriously and as such complaints are normally handled efficiently.

I can also tell you that before I support a particular brand or company I check their credentials and ratio compliments to complaints on the site.

Yip - same here - and only way to get a response from hellopeter is by logging a complaint about MTN against hellopeter - telling them they're not responding.

Yeah, and have you seen how many complaints logged for MTN? Frigging frightening, disgraceful actually but it doesn't seem like the other service providers are any better!!!

At least they respond to complaints. Look at it this way:

Does Vodacom still have the largest subscriber base, if so:
They have 4369 complaints and 914 compliments

MTN have 5341 complaints and 919 compliments.

For a company with a bigger subscriber base, Vodacom have lower complaints, and a better complaint to compliment ratio.

Also - Vodacom responds - up to yesterday. MTN have HUGE gaps in their responses - and sometimes don't respond for weeks - I think in April they responded for two days, then only caught up in May.

Thank you for responding on HelloPeter. Check all the overbilling dated 04/06/09. Most the same problem. MTN now CANNOT say they don't have a billing problem. They are quiet as they cannot fix it. Only way is to manually correct the millions of subscriber's accounts.

My personal opinion is that the days the *162*pin# has not updated your balance you are being charged out of bundle. This seems to correspond to my bill.

Reading complaints on that site , made me realize that mtn needs to hire a whole new team . I don't know whats is so hard about update their subs account correctly ? Its basic maths 2+2.

It is done by an automated system. If it goes haywire, how do you fix it? You only manually fix the accounts of those who have a valid complaint.

Marco, they don't even seem to be doing that. When a network like mtn deals with millions of rands each day there should be no excuses , i am paying for a service , that cost as much as dstv and im sorry but " our billing system has gone haywire " that is not my problem , why should i pay 300 more when i know that i could not have used so much data (100 meg +) it was not even, in month ! Even when i go on the net with opera mini ( on my phone ) my pictures are off , and i was mostly on mixit ). . Because at of the day it is costing you and I and millions of other users money . That could be spent on more important things like buying food and paying bills .

I used 12MB's yesterday. MTN shows I used 0,4MB's using *162*etc AND MTNactive website updated today.
I suppose 11.6MB will be out of bundle although they say I have 99MB's left.
My meter shows I have 40MB's left.

Why cant they update contract like prepaid?
