This is potentially why you are having trouble keeping a girl that you are interested in... interested. Women can pick up on attitudes very quickly. Displaying an attitude that says: "Chick, screw me or duck" ( See what I did there :P ) is not something they will be attracted to. They will catch that vibe and leave.

On Topic
There are always going to be situations in life where one person feels more for the other in a relationship. Even in a marriage there will be one that loves the other more. A good marriage is when the role of the one who loves more is constantly alternating between the 2. And where the disparity between how much each of you loves the other is not very large at any one point.

I dont think people mean to complicate things by declaring their feelings. They are simply seeing if their feelings are reciprocated, that is all. The problem comes when they cannot handle it if they find out that the feelings are not mutual. This usually happens in younger people as they have not got the life experience to realize that it is not the end of the world. Although I know some older people that have not figured this out yet.

We over do the unemotional, logical thing because thats what society expects of men.

Acting with out emotion and with logic is a good thing in a lot of situations. It's the whole keeping your head while all those around you are losing theirs thing. It's a leadership thing and its manly and attractive. But, it's not the only thing. Being Clint Eastwood all the time is unrealistic and not useful or desirable. Clint Eastwood is a caricature of a manly man.

We've also got to be boyfriends and husbands and fathers and that stereotype isn't very helpful for that. This is why there are so many divorces and ****ed up kids around.

Agreed...Clint Eastwood is good viewing...but not a good example for men. btw my wife and I cry together all the time...I try to show my emotions (against what I was taught as a child/young adult) all the time (except at work because there are too many emotional vampires and arseholes in powerful positions).

You should realise that your that your personal experience and this one thread (or a few like it) doesn't help prove or disprove the contention that men are logical in anyway.
The reason we don't have girls is that we don't have a lot of girls on here and girls generally have other outlets for their emotional issues.

But, ja men are emotional beings. The point is we're not generally raised to deal with our emotions. (edit: which is probably part of the reason why you have ended up with so many crying emotional psychopaths)

Edit 2: That and the fact you're a ball buster of note.

I think we deal with them just fine, just differently to women. I dont get overwhelmed by emotion, and when I'm upset, I talk with someone.

It is possibly a need for intimacy that you are not getting from your current relationship.
It could be various things...intimacy, flattery anything really.

It is not a bad thing, it is just a thing.

Maybe that's just the type of men you attract?

There's often a pattern in the way people pick/attract their partners. Not saying it the case with you though.
