Computer-generated 'Sweetie' catches online predators

You see my question is... why do you guys jump into every thread where there is a clear incidence of criminal and predatory behaviour or actual rape and start defending the "innocent peadophiles"? That's what makes me questions your motives? It's like you are trying to paint even these candidates with the same "poor victim" brush?

That brings up an interesting point, what do you consider paedophilia to be? Is it the act of preying on a minor or is it the condition of being attracted to minors? The ICD classifies it as a disorder of adult personality and behaviour. I'm going to play devil's advocate here because to me the idea of someone being a paedophile in the sense of they're attracted to minors doesn't disturb me. What does disturb me is when they prey on the minors because they [the minors] are impressionable. I agree that they will need to take responsibility for their actions.

You see, I have a problem with that. I think they should hang. They have already committed the crime. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and the law does not recognise their "condition" as a mitigating factor. They should have sought help earlier. Just like drug addicts and alcoholics should seek help before they commit a crime.

No worries. Just keep in mind the context in the future. Thread is about these 1000 predators, not all paedos, there is no need to point that out in every post.

This thing doesn't seem to suggest that all paedos are predators. It does however vilify those actively predating on kids across the Internet. They deserve to be vilified. They are in fact villains.

If they are indeed proven to be criminals, then I make no apology whatsoever for that.
The jury may still be out on these guys, but the very fact that they were recorded coercing a [virtual] minor into sexual acts doesn't bode well for them.
The very fact that there is an article being published about this in major news sources indicates that the suspicion is already there.

It really does make them look like defenders of pedos who act out their fantasies.

Yet, you're doing nothing. Absolutely nothing to prevent it from getting there. But oh no. Mighty Gary will with righteousness punish those foolish enough to break a law! They must all fall in line! It doesn't matter what their problems are. It doesn't matter that the society's laws that I, Gary, so rightfully uphold is the same society that has caused many of the problems. Fall in line! Fall in line! We will turn a blind eye to their problems and sneer at them when they approach for help. But oh boy, will you hang when you catch you in the act afterwards!

****. You just can't run a world like this. You try and optimise what is best for everyone. You help those that need help. You help those that have been caught in the act because they haven't had prior help, but obviously enforce stricter rules on them.

we all agreed that they needed to be punished in other threads until you mentioned that they should all be castrated before they even commit a crime :p

Firstly, why is it suddenly MY responsibility to help everyone with their problems?
I am not involved in law enforcement or therapeutic counselling or any type of mental health services.

Secondly, it is every law abiding citizen's right/responsibility to condemn criminal behaviour.
I will continue to exercise that liberty as I see fit.

Thirdly, you have heard of the saying "Thou dost protest too much"?
By continually jumping feet first into every thread where criminal paedophilia is being discussed certainly does throw the limelight back on you.

Many of them do subject themselves to chemical castration.
It is a valid form of treatment.
You should know that.
