Configuring updates - Stuck.

I've gotten here and there's a laptop which was reinstalled by someone else yesterday.

Windows Vista Business and it says:

Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete. Do not turn off your computer.

Hasn't done anything in an hour.

How do I make the damn thing work?
