Well as a first time voter I was very excited the whole election and really felt pround to be part of our country's democracy.

I did feel that the elections where on a whole free and fair, and went fairly smoothly.

I would like this to be a congratulatory thread instead of a negative one.

First off, congratulations to all of South Africa's voters who turned up and waited in long queues to make a difference. To those who didn't vote or didn't register, hopefully next elections you will.

Next, congratulations and well done to the winning party, the ANC, and Mr. Jacob Zuma, our next president. South Africa voted you guys in, and that's the way it is. I hope that throughout the next 5 years the ANC will rule the country fairly and justly. The ANC's campaign I felt was solid and managed to secure them the majority vote however you see it.

Congratulations to the DA and Mrs. Helen Zille. She looks to be a very strong woman and they faired fairly well in this election increasing their vote. Congratulations for that and a huge well done for taking the Western Cape. I hope the DA will govern that province fairly and justly as well.

A huge well done to COPE and Mr. Mosiuoa "Terror" Lekota as well as Mr. Mvume Dandala. Your party, for being such a newly created one, I believe did very very well in the election securing the official opposition in a number of provinces. I believe your campaign was largely without negativity, which I believe is a great aspect (although they could have done with a few more posters).

Then well done to the IFP, even though you guys lost a considerable amount of voters, I believe that Mr. Mangosuthu Buthelezi is a great man who really and sincerely cares about our country, South Africa.

To all the other party's, well done for participating in the elections.

Thanks South Africa for making my election experience as a first time voter very exciting, and I look forward to what will hopefully be a peaceful and wonderful next 5 years.

Congratulations Pooky for your first time Voting
Congratulations to Pooky for the first Good post

Nice thread.

It was my first time voting too and it was exciting. Even though the whole deal was done and dusted in less than 10 minutes, it gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling to know you've left your mark on our country.

Might not be the result we wanted but hey...that's democracy.

One man people should listen to is Bantu Holomisa. He seems quite sincere and makes good points.

Agreed.:)

*waits for the expected negative spin*

 and there's the first negative spin spun...

Mines the second but a small price to pay to point out hypocracy...

Yes Pooky good thread and congratulations to ALL South Africans no matter who you voted for and no matter whether you voted or not (next time you should though :D). Baby steps...

Excellent post Pooky. These elections remind us that the vast majority of South Africans respect each other and wish for a peaceful future. We need to unite and build a better future for all South Africans.

Thank you Pooky for such an optimistic thread. I am with you on this one!

Congrats to all and i cannot wait to see what the next 5 years has in store for us. I'm truely excited to be South African and to have taken part in a free and fair election.

:)

IDIOT

IDIOT = a person of subnormal intelligence.
EDIT:
Subnormal :: subnormality = retardation: lack of normal development of intellectual capacities

An IDIOT is a retarded person with a lack of normal development of intellectual capacities.

Request permission to blame the ANC? :D

I've just arrived back after having been away since the afternoon of voting and haven't had much access to news and none whatsoever to MYBB. I would also like to say a big well done to all those who voted, especially those expats who made such an effort. I'm just starting to hear of some of the figures and it is my understanding that if it wasn't for the expats, we may not have avoided the 2/3rds so really, we're proud and thankful for that.

Realistically, those opposing the ANC did exactly what we intended and needed to do this time round.
