Strange for me yesterday since 3pm, cellc connects but could not access cellc.co.za or any other site.
Ping errors unreachable.
Then dis/reconnected a few times, works for about 10-30secs, then the same "dead" all day. No "Zero-Rated".
Only connected today after i gave up yesterday afternoon.

When this happens, are you able to ping or open any sites by IP address?
A couple of examples:
http://41.72.143.60 (www.cellc.co.za)
http://41.203.21.137 (mybroadband.co.za)
The above two sites don't end up at the normal pages, but you should see 'Another Cell C page - coming soon' and 'It works!'.
http://74.125.230.80 - http://74.125.230.84 (google.co.za)

Also run 'ipconfig /all' and take note of your DNS settings.

I'm not getting disconnects, I'm just getting no data. Download = 0 after just a few seconds of being connected

I experienced the problem yesterday once - I was able to connect to the network but an IP was assigned to me, no gateway/dns servers assigned this happen around 9am or so yesterday. I was unable to browse websites what even makes it more weird and strange that i was able to connect to a irc network but notice I was unable to visit websites/ping websites.

am i right in saying that this is happening in Gauteng only (looking at everyones location). Does it take hours for it to happen or a few seconds?

I think what is happening once you able to connect to the network their is like a delay probably of 30seconds or so(then you are unable to ping any website/visit any website) I connected to an IRC immediately once I connected but didn't bother to actually visit a website and when i did ipconfig /all - noticed an IP was only assigned only with no gateway address or anything.

Could probably be a server in Johannesburg effected *This happen in another location was able to connect* but no throughput at all, pinging, also reconnecting to the network same problem happen with RSSI -65 dBm, at the moment someone in pretoria is experiencing the same problem no throughput at all / terrible speeds similar to those of dial-up.

Happy to report my connection has been up and running for more than 24hours without any disconnections *please don't touch my base station* also query with CELL C if they were doing any upgrades/firmware on base stations yesterday the reason I am asking this is cause yesterday my "Transmission" to access 3G was always vanishing from radar would happen for like 10minutes or so, also happy to report my RSSI is stable once again -87 dBm, just noticed on Tuesday afternoon after 4pm the service was degrading to around -95 dBm

IceQB ain't from Johannesburg but PE*If not mistaken*

It ranges from a few seconds up to a max of about 10 min. Tho, that was last night, I will check again tonight.

A friend of mine could ping a couple of sites, but not browse them. Happened after being connected for a while. He has not experienced this since Monday though. He's in Somerset West.

Cell C has mention a known issue that will be affecting Gauteng (midrand area is expected to be most affected). I can't narrow done the specifics atm but will post more info when i am able to. They know what the issue and are trying quickly resolve it before it gets out of hand.

The possible issues may include:
disconnects
slow speeds
no data throughput

Maybe you could make a new thread about this issue before some one makes a thread about slow speeds in those areas.

It is great that you are putting up info about this before hand

Edit : in the sticky's there is a thread about speeds in Gauteng region

@ginggs i will check again when it happens again.

Network status always just said registering.
Strange thing was after a few tries, i just removed dongle & tried sim (registered) in phone for 30s-1min. Some sync issue maybe?
Inserted back into dongle & cellc connected fine.
Done this twice so far to get it working again.

Yes but maybe someone has experienced the same issue before and has some advice.
Still want to know the difference between the ip ranges. Latency to LDN was 350ms where it is normally 275 ms, will this get any better in the near future ? like under 200ms

have you tried to contact the customer call centre?

That's simply not a viable option. I had to hold for 39 minutes the other day before being cut off. And then a similar time that evening, still without speaking to anyone. Except Trevor, but his was a monologue. 084104 is a complete waste of time.

If you wanna help say something constructive, waiting for telkom or other operator just the same they all take long.
If you want to talk to a consultant press 9 at the prompt this will bypass and send you straight to consultant.

How is my relating my call centre experience not constructive? It took that long. I wasn't helped. That's how it played out. End of story. Must everything posted here be glowing praise for it to pass your test? You're deluded if you think I should post by your rules.
