Connecting D-Link and Billion via Wireless

Hi guys....

I need some advice please...

I have a D-Link that is used as the main access point for my ADSL. It is a DSL-2750U.
I would like to use my Billion 400g to connect wireless to this and then connect wired to the Billion with my various pc's. Here is a graphic:

ADSL -----> DSL-2750U ------> Windows pc, Laptop, Windows pc, Windows pc.

Billion 400G -----> Windows pc connected wired
Linux pc connected wired
Laptop connected wired

I need to try and do this as it is simply not feasible to run a cable over to where my pc's are.... at the moment what is happening is that I transfer quite a bit of data between the second set of computers and that slows the wireless network down terribly, as the D-Link has to do all the work. If I can get the Billion to connect to the D-Link for internet access I can then use the wired setup on it for my transfers. LOL I hope this makes sense, if you need any more information pls dont hesitate to ask....

I need to know whether it is possible to use the Billion as a connection from my pc room to the d-link basically, so that if I need internet access, I do not have to use a wireless card(s) at all.

Does the Billion have 'Station Mode'?

You could connect the Billion as a separate wireless client and cable the PC's on the other end.

First prize would be to replace the Billion completely with another 802.11n device which should give you better performance over the wireless link.

Hi There,
Whilst I am loathe to throw technology away I would suggest n rated wireless connectivity to give you a better response wirelessly.
As I have said often before cable connectivity is still the first prize when it comes to speed and reliability.

Scoop, thats exactly what I need to do, but I need some advice as to HOW to setup the billion to actually connect to the d-link wirelessly mate...... I am totally not concerned with the speed of the connection , Tim, lol the wireless speed at g is plenty enough considering the incredibly high adsl speed of (SOMETIMES) 2mb/s our providers offer.... main consideration here is the how-to of makin the billion talk to the d-link, mates.

Set the Billion in 'Station Mode' (If possible) and make sure you set your SSID and wireless security settings are identical to the Dlink AP.

If the Billion router does not have station mode, you might be able to get a connection between the two products using WDS. This however may not work as there are often incompatibilities between different chipsets. You will need to enable WDS on both ends and use WEP encryption as your wireless security standard as it generally works between different brands.
