hi all
i've got a canon ip4500 printer connected to my pc. i'm trying to connect my macbookpro to the same printer via the pc.
i've opened the printer on the pc for sharing.
on the mac, opened system preferences>print&fax>clicked the + add printer button. in the window that comes up next, i clicked on windows. the mac then sees the location of the printer on the pc and sees the printer. i selected the printer and the driver (canon pixma ip4500 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.1.4). the printer is setup (or so i think).
when i try printing a document from the mac, the printer just spits out a blank page. so i think that the mac is talking to the printer, kinda. not sure what to do next. do i have the wrong driver for the mac or can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

MacbookPro
Mac os x 10.5.6
2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo

awesome. thanks so much for replying. tried the canon pixma mp150 v.5.1.4 and it prints! black prints fine but when i print colours, they're all over the page. is this because i'm using a different driver for the model of canon i have?

yeah i am pretty sure it is, download latest gutenprint driver pack and try with correct model.

downloading the gutenprint 5.1.7 which i think is the latest one. thanks for all your help. i'll let you know if either my mbp or my printer blows up!

actually i think i saw gutenprint 5.2.x somewhere, but u need to find the latest one that has changes to ur printer.... anyways, good luck.

downloaded the 5.1.7. the few things i did print did seem to print well. if there are a few tricky prints i will definitely download the v5.2. thanks again!
