You just create a "contention ratio" on this forum [V]
Contention - strife, dispute, etc.

Anyhow, I would say my speed is back to where it was when I got mywireloss at the begining of June (not that it is what I expect it to be), so are they fixing (what was then working) or undoing what was messed up.

the problem is that as SOON as you do anything, like downloading/streaming audio/breathing to loud - browsing dies.

It's getter there, but it's a far shot from fixed...

So - well done Sentech, you're on the way to fixing your enormous cock-up... now... get there faster!
You currently getting decent speeds and latency, don't be greedy and moan for more straight away, don't 4get we love in South Africa

WTF!? Explain to me why we should accept cr*p just because we live in South Africa? That's just the stupidest thing I've read on the forum so far. SA telcos have been pushing this "hey this is Africa" BS excuse for some time now and it looks like some people are actually buying into it.

The first-world portion of SA's economy is MORE than strong (and large) enough to support a world-class bandwidth infrastructure (*) as good as any first-world country - only people like YOU prevent it from happening by continually pushing the viewpoint that we *should* aim to have really low standards.

(*) If you need proof of this, look at Telkom's profits. Then pretend that money was being used to create and expand infrastructure. Heck, the profits from last year alone are almost enough to install ANOTHER SAT-3.

At the Pretoria show today there was a Sentech reseller. Ok to be fair he wasnt pushing the 'product' to bad. I say "so what package are you using?" he says "we have R499 and .." Stupid fool. I wanted to check if he was also capped. I said "so what about this cap?" he says "no there is no cap on this system". I walked away. Was hoping for some Sentech official to beat up.. oh well.

This morning when I woke up international browsing was flying, however, I woke up to find the PPP link protocol error (see other thread)

P2P and downloading (single thread and multithread) was still hell slow, but browsing... haven't seen browsing like that since before these speed problems started... short lived though, got hit by another PPP link protocol error and decided not to reconnect, now browsing is slow again.

Apparently the deadline is the 31st, not the 30th...

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

Speeds this morning are terrible. I have been connected 6 days 20 hrs 28 mins and counting. Connection is stable, but the speed is terrible. Getting speeds of less than 1KB per second on downloads, where I was in the past getting up to 10KB plus on my 128kb connection.

SO, if several of us are now experiencing slow speed then there was something undone by seniletech in the last 10 hours.

I'm starting to notice a pattern, sundays, which should be our best days (NO CORPORATES Hogging the presciousssssssssss band), are in fact our worst, this is probably due to the fact that they reserve sundays to do major work/test their silly theories on how to "FIX" the problem.

I wouldn't mind this, if sentech were to post/mail a scheduled maintenance, or even call it a "test run".

If anyones got the logs, take a look, Sunday things have gone down for the last 3 weeks.

Today (Sunday) I have had a baseline standard speed to local destinations of less than 1 k per second. Yesterday it seemed things were improving, I was at one point getting 10K to international destinations, and an average torrent speed of 5-8K. Local DC++ was cruising at my maximum possible of around 26-28K on the 256 package. So something has either been changed, or whatever they were trying to do has failed.

Once again we cannot help but feel that, if they would only communicate what was happening in more detail, we might even be able to help.
