Console Wars: Price round up

Thats been PS3's issue all along. they way more expensive than any of the others on the market. If I had to choose I would go xbox or wii.

Actually I think I would rather get a SNES than buy a playstation anyway.
 
Even if the PS3 was the same price as the 360, I see no reason to own one. Maybe as a Blu-Ray player, but otherwise nothing. Final Fantasy XIII would have been the only reason I would ever have considered getting one - but most of us know what happened there ;)
 
Oh - If there are any XBOX SA people reading these posts, many of us in SA would like to know whether XBL will ever come here. Right now a lot of us are on the UK service as we have no choice.

There aren't enough broadband consumers in SA to make it worth putting servers here. Not to mention the price of bandwidth.

Now, one set of servers in SA for the WHOLE of Africa might be worth doing.

Once Seacom lands that is.
 
Hmmm...sony is so busy drowning in their spit and in the shade of the yen that i can but only laugh. Glad that Nintendo came back into the market actually as a competing console, Xbox deserves the market share they have. Because for once Microsoft released a product that is all that and so much more..I;m afraid that the PC's day of mundane gaming is over and that the future of computer games will be most MMO games.
 
And PC gamers have been listening to this since the Nintendo arrived (the one and only NES ofcourse :))... move along sonny boy...

well its inevitable , not saying computer gaming will die in next 5 years, but less and less developers are still bringing out titles worth while, and at R1800 u can buy a box arcade, or a an mid-range graphics card...as far as I know Blizzard are the only big "pc exclusive" guys out there
 
I must say that I was surprised to see that the XBox is significantly cheaper than the Wii. The Wii is great fun, but one of its value propositions was its low price. This is not longer the case - or at least not in South Africa, which questions whether the Wii console is worth it...

AFAIK the Wii and the XBox arcade edition (post price cut) retail at the same price in the US. Something just does not make sense here in sunny SA. Console makers try and sell their products at the lowest profitable price, except for Wii and SA.

Maybe would should get PeterCH (Jap-phile) to write Nintendo a nice letter (in Japanese preferably) complaining about the the price differential here.
 
I just bought PS3 80GB for R4700, after hesitating while Makro's stock of R4000 40GB PS3's got sold out. Considering I got the dual shock controller and 40GB more space, it was worth it.

Yes, its a shame that the wii is more expensive here. And i think its going to have a roll over affect since less people will buy and then games will remain expensive, etc. The thing I like about xbox (and I'm a PS fanboy if I had to admit it), is that there is a good market for games. Lots of specials and second hand market. That attracts me since I do not like paying more than R300 a game for what is a hobby for me.

PS. I don't any new console actually, but that xbox is damn attractive.
