Morning all.

To help us identify trends etc please post your reports here in the following format...

Date of disconnect
Time of disconnect
Location (suburb & province)

This will give me an opportunity to give the network team a good trend for investigation.

Thank you

Cheers

Shaun

I am in Alberton and iBurst is virtually unusable. What the hell is up with iBurst the last month? Is the network falling apart? No wonder CEO jumped ship.

22nd of April
every 20-30minutes
Capetown, CPT Airport.

I 1st thought maybe the disconnectiones are due to being capped. Maybe there's different shaping rules, so my apps disconnect (even mirc)

Shaun this is killing me...
It happened 440MB into an 887MB download from adobe.com (Using their 'Akamai Download manager' - which is the only option you can on their site...)
Resuming the download was impossible.
This after I just purchased an extra 3GB bandwidth this morning!
(And I have no guarantee that it will not happen again...)
I am throwing money into the water here!

What is iBurst going to do about this?

I am very unhappy about what has happened this month.
We are paying ridiculous amounts already for bandwidth and top ups.
The amount of bandwidth I have lost this month due to disconnections already is probably close to 1 Gig!
Are you going to credit my account?

Hi Shaun,

Many thanks! I was called by Mpho late yesterday to confirm that someone will call me between 8am and 9am. As promised, I received a call this morning at 8:15 and Peter was at my house at around 9.

He got onto the roof, adjusted the flat panel a little and did his tests. He also adjusted MTU settings in both the router and the two Vista machines. He also managed to sort a niggly little problem out with sending emails from my work SMTP. A friendly guy, and all it costed me was making him a cup of Rooibos tea! Not bad I say.

Thanks Shaun for arranging this visit. I will monitor the network performance in the next few days and will report back. So far it looks OK.

Are you perhaps on the iGame COD4 servers, because that's where I noticed the worst degradation, and thats connecting directly to them.

Again thanks!

Rudi

Got a call during the week and Peter came out today to have a look at my problems. Seems like I am switching between certain base stations alot. So we moved my external antenna somewhere else and it seemed to help with the latency spike I been having, I will continue monitoring. Thanks iBurst and big thanks to Shaun and Peter as well! :)

The connection seems to drop in a regular fasion. Not sure if this is due to certian way of Shaping on the account perhaps once i'm capped.

My mirc client disconnects quite often.

Hi Shaun i dont always disconnect but i have noticed a really really crap speed lately.. i used to play World of Warcraft at about 400-600 latency thats including my Girlfriend playing wow on her pc and her brother playing red alert 3 on his pc. but recently as soon as one of use do anything.. the others cant i cannot even log into wow while red alert 3 is active and only one of us either me or my girlfriend can raid at once with a lot of disconnects this problem started 2 months ago

i called iburst.. they said they can fix it for a extra R900 i then called the manager (Gavin ) and he said the iburst network is fine.. he believes the problem is on my side.

So the next day i get a new modem format all 3 of our computers set the MTU settings again and bam.. the connection Did infact not Get better as a matter of fact it got worse i now have a crappy download speed of about 10-20 kbps.. is this supposed to happen at 98%

So i call and speak to Gavin again. i then said well i want to end my contract because iburst will not refund me for my data that i have lost through all the packet loss.. He then asked me What is packet loss 0_o

i then asked him to put me through to the retentions dept. he just hung up in my Ear

I then think ok lets leave it and next month maybe its better..

Next month comes. started fine.. and on the 4th day of the month.. all my cap has vanished

i call them asking what happened.. no one can explain i then get put through to gavin i ask him he just says it was me downloading stuff

I go off my rock because at that stage i was working for the Dept of justice i threaten them with legal action for the theft of my money and he hung up in my ear

i call again the next day and when i speak to Gavin again.. he has the nerve to Say " Prove It" i left it at that.. the other day i couldnt even connect . kept saying my username was blocked from the network

I called them and they quoted me R1300 for a person to come out.. so ofc i didnt take it.. since then i have been running at 35-60% signal (down from 98%) and went from downloading at 105-120 KBps to a mere 10-13 kbps .

Is there anyway we can end this torture?
