Constant problems with Vodacom, recently

Iam3g your rights are protected by the process which has to be followed. People are allowed to protest to any development. Then there is a process to decide if the objection is valid.

I know from first hand experience what happens if you leave councils to manage these processes. They simply rubber stamp everything that comes through the door will little regard for logic. In most cases developers apply for a waver on environmental impact (because its expensive) and council grants it.

If little tannie Elsa doesn't object, thereby forcing a dialogue and investigation, developers could run amock....trust me you don't want to try get a decision reversed once its been made.

Both Cat011 and Iam3G have valid points, but it also nicely highlights the situation Vodacom (very) often finds itself in where you have a requirement from subscribers on one hand and (normally) valid concerns from others.

Kinda like damned if you do, damned if you don't....

Brings me back to the 'stuck-record' bit: If there is enough demand, VC will do its utmost to get coverage in the area. But it's not always straightforward and coupled with the fact that transmission is often also not available, you've got a bit of an uphill battle.

First of all, I must apologize that I did not provide enough information. I suppose when you reach a point of almost giving up you end up only complaining without providing enough information.

May I ask what information you need? Exactly.

The phone I use is a Nokia 6234, I mainly use it for the following:

1) Make phone calls (They sometimes drop for no reason, or my phone just does not ring when someone phones me but goes straight to voicemail. This also happened on my other phone I used to have, Sony Ericsson K700i/

2) Sending SMS's, now thats a game usually people get the sms's I send but every now and then, either I don't get theirs or they don't get mine?

3) Using Java apps that requiere connectivity such as Mobizines, Mxit etc, tend to often disconnect while the phone loses signal. Once again happened with my previous phone. The phone changes the signal type as it can not keep a constant signal strength and then just disconnects.

4) Tried connecting to the internet using my PC and phone, same problems phone loses signal strength or it fluctuates so badly that its unusable.

I have tried changing the settings from dual band to GSM which worked for a while and now its back to the same problems.

v3g [post=1742079]posted a link[/post] to the info you will need to provide, the link has also been in v3g's forum signature for a long time.

You could well be suffering from the same problem that Iam3G has been experiencing considering your common locations, but that is an assumption at this point in time - best not to assume it's the decommissioned base-stations until other possibilities have been eliminated.

Thank you, I shall be doing what it says in the link

Edit: Just sent an e-mail to Vodacom customer care, explaining my problem

It does sound like congested GSM (for example the straight to voice mail indicates that there was no capacity to deliver the call to you) but I'll check your location when you send it through.

Just want to say, so far thank you to vodacom3g, for trying to help me out. Now I wait for Vodacom help desk to get back to me.
