Contract to PAYG Conversion

A large part of my reason for the migration to prepaid is that bundles are just plain easier to handle on prepaid than on contract. Since I'm going to buy myself one of the Nokia N95's with HSDPA as soon as it comes out, I'll be using the same number for my calls and data.

Thanks,
D

Good day,

Well Geoff page the owner of Voice is apparently working on this and as soon as I get feedback I'll advise ASAP

MTNDD

Cant port from contract to P&G

My brother wants to port from contract to pay as you go on MTNSP but is told that its not possible. Anyone got any comments about this?

No. You can't go from Contract to Prepaid. The best bet to keep your number is to. Port the number to Vodacom/Cellc or virgin Mobile prepaid then after 3 months port it back to MTN prepaid. Its the best you can do now.

I looked at this sometime ago. here is what I got (reluctantly)told by people:

Change your SP for 6 months. Say go to Vodacom. Then return to MTN on a prepaid basis if you wish.

They did say that you can only port once in 6 months & that you can only port if your contract period has passed.

I converted my data contract to PAYG and still have the same number on the modem (vodacom, mygig1).

i was under the impression that is you can. the way i thought it worked was that you let your contract run down and you let them know that at the end of your contract you going to prepaid...i thought the portability allowed this...

yes it allows it but you need to change SP's when it comes to the voice calling side if you wish to move to prepaid.

I'm trying to convert an expired Altech Cellular (SuperCall) MTN Contract to MTN Prepaid and keep the number, so far no luck.

Any suggestions on the best way to convert to prepaid and retain the number?

Phone the MTN customer careline on 173 from an MTN phone. It's a FREE call.

Explain them you are with AUTOPAGE and they won't allow you to convert to MTN prepaid and the only other option is for you to port the Number over to Vodacom and then convert it over to prepaid.
They wont be too happy with this. Get a ref number and name of the person you spoke to.

Visit a bigger branch of Autopage like one in the Big shopping malls.

Explain to them you have phoned MTN directly and it's 100% possible and MTN does not wish to lose you as a subscriber. Give them the name and details of the Person you spoke to with the ref number.

Also inform them that you are e-mailing -ICASA - MTN - AUTOPAGE- for making your life difficult when this is a relatively easy process. Do this properly.

Ask for a telephone number for Autopage Retentions department. Keep names of all the people you speak to in the process. Remember 9 out of 10 people you speak to don't really know whats going on.

If you have finished with this process and ready to email the people concerned - PM i will supply you with all the necessary info.
