Back looking at convertibles - how much of a pain is a soft top? Would love a hard top convertible but my price range of 150k yields nothing great - tigra looks too plain and peugeots are too unreliable.

Looking at a mx5 - 2007 -> 2007

Other convertible options would be appreciated :D

You spend years deciding?

Figure out what YOU want, then look for one in the best possible condition, in your budget. Happy days.

MX5 seems like a champ, though if you're looking at Tigras and Peugeots you might as well hand in your man-card right now.

Otherwise a handful of BMW Z4s fall into your budget?

Old school Merc SLK 230 Kompressor wiff kiff red leather? :D

A few Nissan 350Zs are available for R150k, a contender if you don't mind poor fuel economy (and have the pockets for it).

Here is a nice convertible, in your budget...

350z and z4 are both nice convertibles - a little worried about reliability/ maintenance pricing.

..... 350z om nom nom

My father wants to sell his 2003 saab 9-3 T for about 110k if you're interested :p

The 350z is called a Daisy in the States.................... nuf said.

The EOS was one of my top options for hardtop convertibles - heard they often have problems with roof mechanics though

ALL convertibles are capable of giving you hassles in that way.

A convertible in SA is just plain madness - in summer it's too hot to run with the roof down - in winter you don't want to, and then there's the fact that you cannot drive through a city with your roof down, as some ****** is going to zap you. You also cannot park outside your favourite restaurant without paying an armed guard to see that nobody slashes your roof whilst you are sipping red wine.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

Looks like lots of calls for the mx5, maybe I'll save up and try get the newer electronic hardtop version

OK - I see you're in Cape Town - possibly the only place in SA where you can use a soft top.

Security and sticky mechanisms will always be a headache, however, no matter where you are.

MX5 soft or hard top will be the best of the bunch.
