Any idea how the pricing compare?

  • Don’t worry, your current pricing and any discounts will stay the same for a whole year from the switch!
Would that be the current pricing, or what pricing is increasing to in May?

Current pricing is R995 for 100/100. Not sure what Cool Ideas pricing is
I'm on the 50/50....

There was this 18 Mar:

So I'm not sure if the pricing over at Cool Ideas would be the "Old" or "New" price, since that change would also have been 1 May...

(I'm on OpenServe, which is probably relevant as well...)

Hi, Pricing from what you had at MTS won't change, so if they have communicated a price change (which everyone has from Openserve) then it will be relative to that.

Im happy to field any questions you may have :)

So if you a MTS customer you being bought by CI which was bought Afrihost.
Three levels just jump the gun go straight to AH and get the same price as MTS was?
Hi, We still run independently including our network. MTS customers will still be billed the same as they were before as per the above posts.

But only for one year.

ISPs are like cloud services, once you're in, you're in. They know it's too much effort and hassle for most people to switch providers unless something seriously goes wrong.

That's why I have to say, the one-year price freeze is a pretty clever marketing move. It's just long enough to get customers past the initial transition phase. People aren’t likely to jump ship after a year, especially if they’ve enjoyed stable pricing and avoided the typical annual increases.

By the time the freeze ends and prices go up, most customers will already be locked into the habit. The inconvenience of switching feels bigger than the extra cost. It’s a subtle way to ease people through the transition and keep them from leaving.

Well not that simple, we cant control pricing changes for the most part and so there is always risk involved.

At the same time we take the risk in acquiring these customers and cant force them to stay.

MTS approached us as they are similar in their approach to customer service levels.

At least that got a lot better since people mostly don't use ISP email addresses - if you used an ISP email for business, ISP changes were hell....

Definitely, so many people hanging on to mWeb for the address.
But all the same vein of vendor Lock-in/Switch barrier/Sticky services

Are MTS customers already on Cool Ideas network, or is it separate still?

Are MTS clients going to be forced into CISP's CGNAT pool ( yes, I know, only supposedly when overflow etc) or do we keep public IP's?

That sucks.
Cool Ideas is good but this means Afrihost own Cool Ideas who own Mind the speed which is less choice for the consumer. Looks like Afrihost is dead set on killing any up and coming competition.

I think the FNO price increases is the root cause. People move to slower speeds to try and save. Slower speeds equal less revenue. Mts was the cheapest when I joined them, they now one of the most expensive. I think many customers jumped ship, I would have but did not have the fees you pay when jumping.

Public IPs always, and we are going to keep the same IP space.
