Cool Ideas fighting off a massive DDoS attack

Just get a VPN until they're back up.

Switching ISPs is pointless, because others are already hit, and those that aren't, will be.

All you'll be doing is adding unnecessary admin to your life. When the next ISP is hit then you'll need to switch again.

That's a lot of notice periods, by which time the attacks will be mitigated anyway, and you would have switched for nothing...

I know its probably worthless, but is there some sort of National government Cyber body that tries to co-ordinate and defend against attacks like this or are ISPs just left to their own devices?

I mean, these attackers are basically bringing SA's internet infrastructure to its knees.
Great comment, but when your government is filled with cadres who think that Internet = Tweeta, you don't have a hope in hell.

Seems like this will no longer be an issue. Afrihost has dropped Liquid telecoms and now using Telkom for transit. Since it was not Afrihost IP ranges that were targeted but rather Liquid Telecoms this should resolve the issue Afrihost had with DDoS attacks.

How did Afrihost make this decision in the middle of the night on a Saturday?

Isn't there payment and "time" needed?

Probably an existing backup link that they decided to switch to.

Supersonic is, I'm switching to them at the end of the month, hoping it's a lot better.

Yea I've switched to SuperSonic (from C.I) honestly apart from some predictable "switch-over-call-centre-issues" that lasted a day. They have been fantastic... I can even "stream" from "unofficial sources" :P
