Speedtest results to speedtest servers vary, you can get 300Mbps to a server in the UK and then 50Mbps to a different server in the UK, so you're 100Mbps will have access to multiple paths. It's more so around whether you need the 100Mbps.

International speedtest on my brand new shiny Vumatel/Cool Ideas 100/100 connection: https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/13598138

Not as smooth as a local speedtest, but pretty respectable.

(Note that I'm ratelimiting on my end to 95/95, so that's the max possible here; also using my own router with a tricked out config, so I don't know how good/bad bufferbloat is with the Cool Ideas-provided router and config)

This post is pretty good, but one thing it leaves out is window scaling; modern TCP stacks will increase the window size when bumping against the upper limit, which results in the "ramp up" effect you usually see near the beginning of a speedtest on a high speed connection. Depending on latency and bandwidth, it may take 30-60 seconds for the window to scale large enough to achieve maximum throughput; you can usually see this on a graph, but speed tests that just report the average transfer speed over the whole test will obscure this detail giving you a result that is less useful than you might hope.

(Of course, waiting for the window to scale open means that for a small download, it will still take longer than if you were closer to the other side; but if your download is going to take, say, an hour, then you don't care)

You can see that the TCP window (last column) is still scaling up for most of the test. (Probably a little other activity on my network at the same time, stealing a little bandwidth)
 
So after a little more less than a month after signing up with Cool Ideas (through the fibrehoods website), they tell me that the ticket is actually with Cool Ideas. I was under the impression that Fibrehoods needed to do the install first, and then Cool Ideas get involved, now they tell me otherwise.

PBCool, is that how things are supposed to work?
Either way, the only contact I've had with anyone regarding this are automated emails, and then waiting 15 min to get through to fibrehoods.

Can you drop me a PM with the name the account is under and I'll have the guys check it out, basically it gets handed over to us we then courier the router. This is checked multiple times a day so sounds like a bit of finger pointing.
 
Stay away. They never reply to support tickets (except if you log a complaint/tweet them). Not very unlike Telkom 0.o

The jitter on your upload was quite high, probably messed with your TCP/IP window scaling.

I have read their Acceptable Use Policy and nowhere does it state that there is a “soft cap”. Also we have been with Cool Ideas for about 2 months now. Although I don’t know how to check our data usage, I know that we used about 150 gigs a month on adsl when we were capped and trying to spare data by not streaming at all and watching youtube at 360p. Now all 4 of us in the family stream in 1080p for at least a few hours a day and we have never experienced throttling. Also my experience with p2p on Cool Ideas has been good.

We don't do any limiting or capping.
