Quite cheap, in Ireland my friend pay 2100EUR a year for car worth 800EUR lol
Oh next year they have to pay more as the car gets older you pay more for insurance. Insurance is a total scam in Ireland, through I heard the GOV is trying to sort it out now.
I heard another guy was quote 5000EUR a year on his new ford focus lol

I heard that it's possible for someone like a youngish guy with motoring convictions to be given a mental quote like that on something like a brand new Focus ST.

Does seem to be mental for new drivers too.
My employer decided this whole thing is BS and told their insurer that they're putting all the young guys on the corporate policy & insurer had better come back with reasonable rates. Sometimes one just needs a bigger stick. :crylaugh:

My son's first policy on a brand new Corsa was just under £1200 pa iirc, my daughter's first policy was only around £900 (go figure the no sex discrimination rules there though
)I know my daughter is only paying around £500 pa now on a year old Fiesta (with about 3 years no claims).

Never even occurred to me until you said this.
But no, my comment was based on my employer sending people all over the globe. The only ones that were ever a problem were the US ones- every bloody time. That plus the entire lottery & US visa category circus...
My last US business visa got approved in <2 hours though so at least that part works fine.

When I read it back I thought it might look like a snide swipe as you had replied, I know you have plenty of globe trotting experience and of living in Europe. I think you probably know the people I was referring to, they often pop up in these threads with "my friend told me that..." and post a large lump of BS.

Had issues going back to the US for a second time when I was younger. Turns out the woman behind the window we were directed to in Killarney on the day had already declined 30+ people before us. She was just having "a bad day", apparently.Never even occurred to me until you said this.
