Corsa Lite engine management lite comes on

Hi my 2004 Corsa Lite switches off when approaching a stop and management light comes on intermittently, it starts first time after it dies and management light goes off again,,,, any ideas as to what could be going wrong?

The little device mechanics use (I forget the name) needs to be plugged in and they should be able to get the error code for why the light comes in.

Corsa Lite's ECU's are not OBDII compliant unfortunately, so don't bother trying one of the cheap <R1000 diagnostic scanners to diagnose the problem. You need a diagnostic scanner than supports GMSA's locally manufactured Opels.

Sounds like a dirty or faulty Idle valve making it not able to idle when stopped, take it out snd give it a good clean, you might need to give the whole throttle body a clean, jack the car on one side and spray copious amounts of carburetor cleaner in there, the gunk will drain out instead of going into the combustion chamber.

Make sure your coolant cap is on properly and sealing.

Had very similar symptoms with mine many years ago and it was this.

That's true.

Mine was a loose oil cap thinking about it.

Could have similar results yeah.

Anything that requires pressure will fail if there is a leak or not sealing properly.

Been there, done that.



A failing catalytic converter, hole in the exhaust, and numerous failed sensors were what was setting mine off.
