Cosatu considers Vodacom boycott

Damn straight, and that's how we want it. Bring in the overseas giants to come show you morons how good business is done, and not just down-right thievery.
You forget that one of the reason overseas companies invest here is because it is one of the few countries where 'down-right thievery' is allowed.

How much have these huge investment deals of the past brought down the prices or improved efficiencies and service?

When last did you see a foreign investment deal that did not involve paying handsome amounts to politicians.

If they boycott good things will happen.

1. They will have to buy either MTN or Cell-C sims and airtime. Better competition and hopefully this will cause Vodacom to lower their prices.
2. Cosatu will lose their SMS campaign contact numbers.

Let them boycott, it's WIN WIN all the way.

I think I have to agree here

Its always good to put a flame under the backsides of these fat ass companies.

AMEN Brother ;)

Barclays bought into ABSA -- Chinese bought into Standard

Has anyone noticed by how much BANK CHARGES have come down :mad:

South Africa has been a country of monopolies from it's very founding by the VOC -- a mercantilist monopoly itself.

I do not have the time or the space to go over the Economic history of SA --

But think of another very big -- for it's time one of the biggest -- buy outs in SA history

Kimberley -- the discovery of Diamonds -- Barney Barnato and Cecil John Rhodes

WHO were the overseas financiers that provided the capital for the Rhodes buyout  ( biggest deal of it's time in SA )

WHO were Julius Werner & Alfred Beit ?????

WHAT happened to poor old Barney

Did mineworker salaries suddenly increase -- or -- decrease ?????

Did the mineworkers have a little bit of bother in 1922 ?????

WHO made a LOT of money when SA went OFF the Gold Standard ?????

When one understands SA history -- current affairs are merely a case of Deja-Vu -- ALL the way to Brett Kebble

There have NEVER been "true" Capitalists in SA -- likewise there has never been "true" Communists in SA ( so sorry RONNIE )

Just the worst of both systems.

Just a small bunch of oligarchical families -- happy to use whatever comes to hand to maintain economic hegemony -- happy to co-opt both Government AND Labour -- THEY have the capital.
