Cost for plumber

I had a plumber come out on an emergency call - it was during the week, normal office hours. They came in about 15 minutes. They stayed for about 10 minutes to solve the problem. This was in Randburg, Gauteng. What should I expect to be charged?
That price is spot on . Use them again.

I paid R1800 for a new element on our geyser after the last water cut-off debacle.

They come out promptly at 9am and took them about an hour. I'm in Sandton.

Apparently I need 2 vacuum valves as well they will come back for another time, around R500 for those to be installed. So not bad to have hot water, cause i'm not showering in cold water ever again!
R1800 if incl vat isa good price however there was time left over to install vacuum brakers. Every plumber should keep stock in the van and it takes 5 min to replace. So they screwed you there

Hi There i know its an old query just thought id weigh in. Since it was an emergency call but during office hours, expect to pay a call-out fee (R400–R800) plus labor (R300–R600). Total cost could be around R700–R1,400, depending on the plumber’s rates.

I am with absa insurance. Put in a geyser claim on Sunday, an hour later a local good plumber called me at ask if they can come to fix my geyser. I was surprise. R600 later, problem solved.

The pipes for my shower started leaking inside my wall (not fun).

Plumbers came out initially to diagnose as we were hoping it was just the mixer valve, had to cut open a section of the ceiling and disconnect the pipes so that we could turn the water supply back on.

Came back the following week, had to chop open the tiled wall (luckily just a mosaic section) and they replaced all the pipes for the mixer. Was about 4 hours of work in total.

Cost was R4995. Cape Town.

Having the tiler come in this week to patch up which will be more cost.

Why did you have to pay at all?

Insurance not covering that?

I still need to file the insurance claim, it had to be fixed asap.

Not sure how much they'll pay out but I'm never using Discovery's contractors ever again so I'll always use my own. I agreed to use one of their people last time and it was amateur hour.
