This might be a strange question - but does Rain use the same towers/coverage for their fixed and mobile offers?

I have a Rain mobile SIM at home and works great! The Rain website even shows great coverage here at my house.
When I look at the coverage for Rain fixed (like on Afrihost or Axxess) it shows I fall just outside coverage.

If Rain mobile works at my house, will Rain fixed work here too? Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

I also had this problem a few months ago, yet my fixed service worked perfectly, I believe that it is because the resellers have an outdated map

Wow, I just noticed that the forum interface has been updated. I see that some replies (that were on this topic) have not carried over though. Wonder if this is on all topics?

The migration took longer than planned so stuff from when they started, sometime on Wednesday, until yesterday, when they finished, will be missing.

Ah, makes sense. No biggie... Loving the new look though :)

I was wondering the same thing and spoke to Rain this morning, they referred my to my ISP (Afrihost) who said I should have signal, but they can't guarantee service. Does anyone have any real-world data on Mobile vs. Fixed in an area that's inside and outside coverage?

My router and SIM should arrive today or tomorrow - will let you know :)

My bad - seems like CCD will only deliver on Wednesday. Wow, I think Afrihost needs to find a new courier company :(

Ok, have tested and really happy now :)

So, to break it down again - Rain's own coverage map (their "mobile" network) shows that I'm smack bang in the middle of coverage. I have a Rain Mobile SIM and usually get 4 - 5 bars...

On Axxess or Afrihost's map (Rain's "fixed" network) it shows that I'm between two towers and fall about 200m out of range (dead spot). BUT - my Rain Fixed SIM also shows 4 - 5 bars. YEAH!! :D

Guess you can go on the map on Rain's site and don't have to worry about the other maps ;)

That's great to hear. Have you done speed tests? Out of interest.

So on Rain's map, I fall about 200m outside of their coverage area. Guess that would mean I'm out of luck based on the above comments.

I have used my Rain Mobile SIM at a few places that fall just outside coverage - some places have signal and others not... Best would be to get a Mobile SIM and test your actual coverage and speed :)
