I have an Alarm and Armed Response contract which expires at the end of the month (31 Jan 2020) as I took out a 24 month contract on the 31st Jan 2018. I requested it for it to be canceled on the 20th Jan 2020 and finally got a response on the 24th Jan 2020 to say that it would be canceled from the end of Feb.
My question is, under the CPA do I still have to give 20 days notice in order to cancel, even if I’m doing so from the expiry date of my contract? Also I never received any communication from the company to say that my contract would continue month to month post the 31st Jan expiry date, so are they even allowed to continue in such a fashion without contacting me?
I’ve read up on the CPA but everything seems to refer to early cancellation and not to canceling on the original expiry date.
