What about Fibrehoods? Now that Vumatel has bought Fibrehoods does that mean Fibrehoods is also implementing Active Ethernet?

I doubt they'll retool their existing areas. Not sure about new rollouts... would make sense to go AE.

I wonder if PBCool can shed some light. I also doubt they would retool existing areas but I am in a new area, they are still busy splicing the area so I wonder if it's still GPON or if they are moving new areas to AE.

Existing Fibrehoods areas will remain GPON for the foreseeable future, some new areas will be built GPON too.

I think the idea is to use GPON in lower LSM areas where AE might be too expensive to justify. Either way, Vuma will start making use of both technologies. When the GPON network gets to a point where services are degraded due to oversubscription, those areas will be retro fitted to AE, but that is still a couple of years away at the soonest.

At this stage, its strictly overhead areas that are GPON and trenched that are AE. This too may change in the future though.

GPON... AE... who cares, just give me my 100/100mb fibre already! Supposed to go live end of April but may be delayed to end of May :(

Yeah different architecture, same service/QOS.

Sorry to hear you have been delayed. They haven't even started in my area
