Creating FTP Server and having remote access anywhere

Okay, i am going to assume that you are using "x.dyndns.org" where X is the dynamic dns address you chose. Because ftp.dyndns.org seems to always route to local:

Tracing route to ftp.dyndns.org [127.0.0.1]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms localhost [127.0.0.1]

Trace complete.

Unless by some miracle you somehow managed to register ftp.dyndns.org to your account and it is merely updating wrong?

One more comparison: www.showmyip.com

The .244 address resolves to bb121-6-54-244.singnet.com.sg, which looks like your ISP's servers, more than likely not your IP address...:confused:

Perhaps sleeper knows where on the ADSL router it shows it's current external IP?

Hi bobb, i have just change the ftp.dyndns in the serv-u to est.dyndns.org.

yes carudden, i agree with you on that! sad to say, i tried all necessary means and still the same result! i think i need to upgrade my brain to 8 core! hehe!

Doesnt look like your Dyndns has updated yet:

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: est.dyndns.org
Address: 84.158.86.208

Check the updater and force an update and see if it changes that address

Edi28. Do a tracert to www.google.com from your command prompt, and you will see what your external ip is. It will look like this on the tracert:

dslxyz.telkomadsl.co.za [X.X.X.X]

Where X.X.X.X is your remote IP.

POrt Forwarding

you are trying to access ftp.dyndns.org that is not possible to do to access our machine that could be someone elses domain. We have our domain as lenarkoe.dyndns.org and our local registered site is www.lenarkoe.co.za and then that is forwarded to the dyndns and then it reads the files off our local server in our office. It all has to do with the port forwarding. We also have an FTP server set up so we can update the website from anywhere all you have to do is set up port forwarding. For instance the computer you wanna connect to has the ip 10.12.68.4 and then you will have the ooption of puting the port next to it and the port would be port 21 and then reason you can put whatever reason you want to put and then save and reboot the router and then from the outside computer that you are trying to access the ftp server your address would be the following ftp://lenarkoe.dyndns.org:21 and then it should take you through to your FTP server

Hi Labrat, I truelly want to do the port forwarding but my dlink dsl g604t, do not have the port forwarding features. I just did it at the virtual server only. Settings is, Private ip is my pc ip address 192.168.1.100. I made it static on the pc itself. The port start,end and map : 2121.

To my latest understand, I am unable to access the ftp at my own office but only can access it from outside my network. Is it correct?

Ports

Hi edi28

On your question
To my latest understand, I am unable to access the ftp at my own office but only can access it from outside my network. Is it correct?
The answer is yes. It's because of the NAT on ther Dlink Router you can't go out and come back in on the same port.

I tried to access your ftp site but it still has a connection refused.
On the D-Link router did you create a custom rule for your ftp or are you using the standard template?

Example:
external_ip:2121(router) ----> internal_server:2121 or
external_ip:2121(router) ----> internal_server:21

your should use the second option.

Megrain
