creche/daycare

there is one close by, and actually we are going for a sonar later on, so maybe we will stop by there, and have a peek. I wanted to say to catch them with their pants down, but seeing as we are going to look at a creche, this might be the wrong choice of words. Ok to catch them off gaurd. souds better....

I'm in the mind set that I will look for things that bother me, rather than the other way round.

things to llok out for at nursery school/daycare/creche:

how many teacher per children in one class.
what does bathroom look/smell like
what does sandpit look like (dirty and full of leaves compared to clean with a cover)\
ask to see the kitchen/menu
ask to see daily routine (and check up with older kids what they did)
for babies: ask if they will be willing to keep book of how baby was during the day. (it doesn't require a lot of time)

Hey HC. What age group do you mainly focus on..?

In all fairness, Im am willing to dish out the money. I just need to feel secure about the place I am choosing. And to offer that comfort to me is not going to be easy, seeing as it is my 1s, and she is a girl. winning my trust is not going to be easy

Well docters and registered teachers study for years before hand. In many cases creche teachers are house wifes that wanted to work. I know a couple and they are all 40+ and never worked before.
sigh. At least I still have 5 - 6 months to make a plan

yes, sad but true. But luckily, there are still some schools that are very strict with appointments. if they do not have training (potential teachers), they must at least have a certain amount of experience.

some schoolss, like SAVF, send their teachers off on courses on a regular basis

0-5 years. currently have 6 kids, including my own 2. But have a lot of new applications for the new year, so I've already appointed someone to help me. More with the cleaning than the teaching. If I do get a lot of babies, however, I will employ someone else also, as I won't be able to cope by myself like I currently do

pitty pretoria is so far away... otherwize i would have stopped by unanounced to "google" your place

:D:D

unfortunately I cannot even give you tips on what schools to try.

but, as I said SAVF schools: and they are all listed in the telephone book. maybe trying phoning SAVF (Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue Federasie) and ask them if there's a school close by.

Otherwise, Smiley kids schools. They are part of a franchise and have to adhere to strict rules. But I don't know what prices they ask, though.

Isn't that the fedaration they had on Carte Blanche where the one member had killed someone's little one and beaten some of the other children? She was a member I think...? Hmmm not sure though.

no idea, I don't watch tv...will google it out of curiosity

oh yes, there is another school I just remembered. Baby Hotel. I used to work for the pta branch, but it closed down due to a forced move :( was the best place I ever worked for.

But school fees are high (no idea what it is currently). Only 5 babies per class, one teacher. they take 0-3yrs. http://www.babyhotel.co.za/

 went to go look on their website quickly...it is now R2620 full day!!

I wish we had daycare centres with webcams so parents can check in on their kids any time of the day.

I'm planning to put webcams up when finances will be permitting this.

Not just for the parents to check on their little ones, but also for the school to keep a record of what happened when and where.

that is a GREAT idea, so then if something does happen it can be captured...

This is the way to go. Gives the parents piece of mind.

There are a few schools who could afford it but would never do it;) Makes you think.

My twins go to a Monstossori (Think I spelled it correctly) and it cost R1.5 per child! And then you still have to send lunch with them.

Excellent. I think it'll be a mjor drawcard to parents who feel anxious about leaving a crying toddler.

Luckily my kids are teenagers now and I don't have the stress of leaving them anymore. Grannies are the best daycare for little ones if they're willing :)
