I think we're all agreed on that - the only difference is that some of us think that it is the indian perogative to prepare a pitch that suits them, and you seem to think they should be more gracious hosts. :)

Call it what you will.

The hosting nation is not obliged to prepare anything for the other team. Its one of the advantages all host teams have on their opposition.

We also prepare pitches that suit our bowlers when we play at home. Maybe we also cowards.

Most countries seem to prepare the wickets we prepare. Except India of course. Boy don't they just love those gawd-damn cabbage patches!

The way that India were able to bat nullifies that comment about a cabbage patch completely. They had the disadvantage , remember we won the toss and bat first they batted last under the worst conditions yet they outscored out first innings rate in their second innings under worse conditions. You elect and refuse to see and admirer that simple fact. They are better than us under stressed pitch conditions. That make them better batsman.

Sure they batted better. I'm not denying that. Let's not forget that it was only the 3rd day. Maybe I'm just a sore loser :p

Show where we made excuses. I am talking about the team (smith/arthur) not media or people on this board.

When the same thing happened to Aus in 2004, they complained till no end. There was even talks of the ICC investigating the pitch and what happened etc etc

The pitch was under prepared, you can not argue with that. It took spin from before lunch on the first day, and Harbhajan opened the bowling in the second innings. That says a lot. I think it is quite a compliment to us that India had to resort to such desperate measures to level a home series.

And in the 2nd test we bowled them out for 76 and scored 400+ what does that make us? lucky batsmen? better bowlers?

Ah dont stress about it.

I think SA are in great form of late. This series was going to test them as prior to this the opposition was hardly anything special.

Leveling a test series in India vs India is an great achievement, especially after India's performance against the Aussies.

The Indian batting line up was always gonna be better then SA's. Between Ganguly, Dravid and Tendlukar, they have serious firepower, and thats not even considering Sewhag, Dohni and Laxman.

However that said, everybody knows that that lineup is extremely fragile, and it showed when we bowled them out for 76. Its typical India for you, one match unstoppable, and the second appalling.

Well, we performed better as a batting lineup during the test series as theirs. So in my opinion their batting line up is not that much better than ours. Go look at the stats for this series and you will see what I mean.

Still waiting for you to show me where our team made those excuses??

Mmm I did not hear India complain or make excuses. We bowled and batted better, the pitch suited us. Now when we get a pitch that does not suit us we perform like we did in the last test. Fact remains India showed us how to play under worse conditions BUT the way India batted and we bowled in the final test showed we are only good when the conditions is good. That is sad! India showed us that there was nothing wrong about that pitch on the final day, if they just-just won and maybe lost 5+ wickets I would agree but to loose only two wickets on the cabbage patch, C'mon, It proves that we have a long way to go to be the best, If ever.

I have not checked stats but will take your word that the SA's batting was better in the series.

But on paper, that Indian lineup is one of the best at the moment. I have also pointed out its a fragile lineup.

My posts on the "excuses" was in reference to south african fans in general, and the media and people on this forum - i never said that was the excuse given by anybody from the team, Graeme Smith or Cricket SA.

Yes we have a long way to go to be the best, ever. That is obvious, but not really the point.

I also did not hear us make any excuses. Please show me where we did?? And I am not talking about the media or the fans.

Do you know that Kumble had a huge argument with the curator before the 2nd test when he saw the pitch?? Did Smith do the same when he saw the last pitch??
