Just finished the Pakistan/India cricket Netflix series. It's pretty good and Shoaib Akhtar comes across as being a decent person.

Perhaps he was just also victimized by Pakistan under Inzamam for not "being a model Muslim" given that he drinks and does not appear to be religious? Inzamam is known to be a religious fanatic and emphasized religion during his captaincy.
