Cricket: International Discussion Thread

The end result is in the right place but I thought both teams were poor today - England's loose bowling matched up with Australia's loose batting.

A mediocre day from both teams though England should be happier given how flat the pitch is.
You get bonus points for spelling loose correctly

This looks like a situation tailor-made for bazball...flat pitch and it's 35°C already. If they can be a little judicious about their strokeplay, the scoring rate could be anything.

Looking forward to seeing Brook on here - he's such a good shot maker.

I'm really disappointed. They're batting at under 4 per over. It's almost as if they've actually decided to turn their brains on. I thought that wasn't allowed anymore.

Edit: and Stokes is on 19 off 76. What is going on?

8 days of cricket and the Ashes is pretty much won for Australia already.

Still 13 days of cricket left.
In theory…

Can't even say they did anything too wrong really...couple poor shots but mostly, just got outplayed. The Aussie bowling was different class apart from Archer.

Watching some BBL. Yes, I need cricket.

Love him or hate him. Maxwell is a truly remarkable player in the shorter format.

This catch was so clockwork. It was as though he was going through the motions. He very soon knew the ball was going just over the rope and deliberately positioned himself. Jumps. Takes the catch in the air over the boundary. Flings it back perfectly. Takes the catch in the field of play nonchalantly. Just wow!

Siddle to Wade, OUT
Maxwell with some magic on the fence! Slower ball into the track on middle and leg. Wade skips down and swats it towards long on. Maxwell takes it mid-air and then parries it up, knowing he would land beyond the rope. He then returns to the field of play, completes the catch and sends Wade on his way!

Nah. They were beyond stupid in the first two games.

I was talking about yesterday specifically - 100% they threw the first couple games.

Lyon already a problem on day 2 and they're going to be batting after this wicket has been baking for 3-4 days...not looking good.

Kudos to the Windies openers for sticking it out on day 2 of the test vs NZ. They could've folded after being in the field so long, but stuck it out and scored a brisk rate. 110/0 at the close is not horrible!

Jon-jon will represent Italy at the T20 world cup. He apparently qualified through marriage.
