Great that the Afghans have found infrastructure to tour abroad.

If they can beat the likes of Zim and WI, I wouldn't mind attending some local games where they feature.

Agreed! These guys need more exposure. They're from that almost natural conveyor belt of sub-continental cricketing nations that with a bit of guidance (and no small amount of funding), can become a regular in the cricketing fixture list.

Regarding this match though, just looking at the scores, I'm almost inclined to think that Zim lost it rather than the Afghans won it. Chasing 215 at home should not be a tricky task (and Zim have some fairly recognisable names). So while I'm glad for Afghanistan, it was by no means a well orchestrated and engineered victory. Still, who am I to rain on their parade (pardon the DL pun!)?

It would be great to see them as a guest franchise in our local T20 tournament. It would spice up the tournament and even get more bums on seats in the stadiums. Could think of the Kenyans and perhaps one or two others.

Gunaratne gone off a PB & well-timed knock:

Turner to Gunaratne, OUT, Stumping chance. This looks tight. Sliding across off from around the stumps. Asela, stretching forward, attempts a reverse-sweep and misses. He loses his balance, and can't ground his bat in time. Good awareness from Paine. Maiden international wicket for Turner
DAS Gunaratne st †Paine b Turner 52 (37b 7x4 0x6) SR: 140.54

Meh! :( Make that 2 in batsmen in 3 balls gone:

Turner to Siriwardana, OUT, Two wickets in three balls for Turner. Pushed through flatter and quicker, Siriwardana plays back and is pinned in front of leg stump. Was it heading down leg? The umpire doesn't think so, and raises his finger
TAM Siriwardana lbw b Turner 15 (11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 136.36

Sri Lanka require another 13 runs with 5 wickets and 13 balls remaining

Pro20 has created many cricket fans.

Imagine if the Chinese catch on to this?

Pro20 tournament in Beijing would be amazing for international exposure.

Talk about going down to the last ball!! Well done Sri Lanka, they certainly can compete against the top nation's B teams. With some experience, they will be back at the top themselves

Perhaps Shanghai, as Beijing could be a little too smoggy :p but absolutely agree.

Woot! Woot! for the lads from Sri Lanka. Even if this is a somewhat depleted Aussie side. This is a great win for them.

Australia 168/6 (20/20 ov)
Sri Lanka 172/5 (20/20 ov)
Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)

Tye to Kapugedera, FOUR, Kapugedara does it for Sri Lanka! Too full and outside off, he creams a drive through the covers and seals victory for the visitors

Kapugedara, the comeback man, pumps his fist and celebrates with Prasanna. Sri Lanka go 1-0 up.

Tharanga nicked behind for a duck, but Dickwella and Munaweera power-hit their way to a 74-run stand to set a strong platform, Asela launched from there and eventually Kapugedara sealed it. In hindsight, Finch could have opted for Head's offspin rather than bringing Stanlake back after he had conceded a 24-run over.

They just need time and experience. They have a great coach and with time the results will follow :)

Miserable effort by Zim in their innings in the 3rd ODI: Zimbabwe v Afghanistan at Harare, Feb 21, 2017.

Zimbabwe 129 (32.4 ov)
Afghanistan 2/0 (0.2 ov)
Afghanistan require another 128 runs with 10 wickets and 49.4 overs remaining

Zimbabwe have been bundled out for 129 . Signs were on the wall after the hosts lost three wickets inside the first Powerplay with 26 on the board. Musakanda and Waller provided some resistance with a handy partnership of 81 after that Musakanda fell and that was that for Zimbabwe. G Naib was the best of the bunch with 4 for 27 in 6 overs. R Khan chipped in with three scalps.

I am incredibly surprised (admission of guilt) that Zim actually pulled a rabbit out the hat here.

Zimbabwe 129 (32.4 ov)
Afghanistan 126 (29.3 ov)
Zimbabwe won by 3 runs

Zimbabwe have defended 129 runs to claim the win by 3 runs. Some good bowling all round, led by Chatara who , like Williams and Mpofu, grabbed 3 wickets. A Stanikzai top scored with a handy 31 but it wasn't enough to help his team cross the line.

Sean Williams and Tendai Chatara are the joint winners of Man of the match award.

The win had been gifted on silver (clearly it wasn't something of gold with diamonds inlaid) platter. Didn't follow it after the change of innings, so not sure if this was a pitch thing. Regardless, the Afghans will be kicking themselves for not taking this and securing the series.

The series still favours the Afghans at 2 -1.

Australia are 84/1 after 33 overs. Warner out for 38 and Renshaw retired hurt with an upset stomach. India flying the flag as usual for exciting cricket by producing a raging turner and opening with a spinner
