Yeah, but it's umpire's call, which means if even 0.1mm hits in line (no way to conclusively say it is or is not the case), it stays with umpire's call. Had the umpire given it not out, it would have been straight forward not out if India had reviewed it in such case.

Whether the rule is formulated correctly or not, is another discussion altogether, but I'm just saying there's nothing here to suggest cheating/irregularities, as the decision is correct according to current rules.

By the way, I looked at that pic in the tweet you linked, and the shadow on the pads distorts the view a bit, making it look like the ball is outside the line by like 3cm, but that's why the image without the batsman is more useful because that doesn't distort the DRS line with shadows.

I do agree the two pics your one is more reliable.

I do however feel it should not be umpires call in the first place.

is the system as it stands now 100% a computer taking the inputs and giving the results?

I am watching the highlights of the days play in the SL vs BAN test and what a difference home conditions make. Mendis playing pull shots in front of square and dominant against the seamers.

He was having major issues here I'm SA

Definitely lots of potential. He needs a lot of exposure to bouncy tracks and they'll have themselves a quality top order batter

:erm:

Not sure what image you were looking at, but there's no way there's even half a millimetre, if anything between the ball and the off stump. It's very conceivable that a little bit is touching, looking at it.

Bowling from around the wicket that ball is always drifting in and will deviate a little more than what hawk eye predicts.

So Warner is out.

Australia 222/4 after 70 overs. Steve Smith again leading the way on an unbeaten 92, ably supported by Glenn Maxwell.

Interesting to see Maxwell in the lineup. Didn't think he'd be in the baggy green any time soon...

The only question was whether the ball hit in line or not. It was clearly hitting off stump, but that alone doesn't satisfy the entire rule.

So Australia end day one very well placed on 299/4. Smith unbeaten on 117 (244 balls - 13 x 4) and Maxwell still there on 82 (147 balls - 5 x 4, 2 x 6). Apparently Kohli is injured.

We are waiting for a word on Kohli's injury. There will be updates on that elsewhere on the site

Australia's day. Easily. Great partnership by Smith and Maxwell.

I saw comments on Kohli off the field. I wonder what that's all about.

Sri Lanka whitewashed Australia 3-0 at home, with the Aussies going over 200 only oncein their innings. Their young batsmen are beasts at home. I wouldn't bet too much on the Proteas winning a Test there either considering they weren't convincing in Bangladesh. We'll probably be made to look like how hopeless Sri Lanka were here.

For someone who started out batting as a leg spinner, batting at number 8 he's bemusing. By far and away the best batsman in world cricket right now. I'm surprised he's even insisting on continuing to bat at number 3, ahead of Shaun Marsh, and backing himself to do well...and he has.

Well we won a test series the last time we were there (in 2014) against a team that still included the likes of Sangakkara, Jayawardene & Rangana Herath. Touring Sri Lanka should hold no fears for SA...

Out of the box thinking or desperation in there being no other worthy batting options?

Well whatever it is, it looks inspired. Not only is he performing with the bat, Steve Smith can call on him to tweak a few later on in the game.

Australia 405/7 with Steve Smith still there (let me contain my surprise) on 156. Crucially, Virat Kohli still off the field. I guess the injury is worse than expected.

Steven Smith reminds me of Allan Border. The steadfast and unassuming captain who doesn't take shyte.

Well done mate.

Looks a good game in the making. Scores will go down over the next 3 days...Australia with the upper hand, imo.

Starc, Cummins, Pattinson, Hazlewood! November is too far for the Ashes to start. Postpone the IPL please.

We narrowly missed their return and got Mennie, Bird and tough old Siddle instead.

Broad & Jimmy will trouble us - especially considering most of our Test batsmen (Cook, Elgar, Bavuma) won't get the May ODIs&T20s to acclimatise - but won't be able to trouble the Aussies as much as Rabada&Philander did.
