Cricket: International Discussion Thread

See England win, switch to the Germany-Portugal. Then realise that there is one more review left. Switch back but the drifta crashed. Cricinfo shows something is up. In desperation awaiting the drifta restarting (a bit cranky on the laptop) see that the match is over with a edge to slip - but it bounced and is a draw.

Missed a tight finish.

Credible draw for Sri Lanka. England will feel like they were robbed.

Across the Atlantic, West Indies are slowly making inroads into the Black Caps line up. West Indies having the better of the day so far.

Sri Lanka on course for a massive victory! What a final session. England are left in tatters.

Collapsed or choked? Cook failed again. That should fuel Warne's criticism of the man yet further. Really excited for Sri Lanka.

Nope. Not yet. They resumed played and no overs have been lost.

That said, it is time to start jinxing the English batsmen.

And with this in mind, I need to praise both Root and Ali to play with such remarkable control.

Root has such a great technique. There's no way Sri Lanka's trundlers, who won't even make it at County level, will be able to breach his defence.

Raj: "Mathews and team should stop all other things and concentrate on the game. sledding is not SL style. Try to get the wickets. cool guys, if you loose your temper all the hard work will go in vain."

Very true. Not a lot of snow in SL to assist them in their sledding abilities :)

To illustrate this point a little further I have attached their stats. Not their control %.

The English batsmen just aren't playing along. Stubborn bunch these two are. It's just not cricket :(

Prior, undoubtedly the greatest wicket keeper batsman of his time. With high concentration levels and a determined mind, few can penetrate his defence, let alone these Sri Lankan trundlers.

You rooted him out! :D

Pradeep to Root, OUT, breakthrough! That's the one they desperately wanted. And it's a full length which has worked. Was angled into the pads, but there was a hint of late seam movement away - as opposed to in -which took a thick outside edge as Root aimed to play through the leg side. Carried low to gully

JE Root c Thirimanne b Pradeep 31 (108b 4x4 0x6) SR: 28.70

There were signs of Sri Lanka getting edgy, but that should settle them. Still 60 overs left today and now four wickets for victory.

Noted. Good stuff.

Matt Prior has saved Tests before for England...

Yes. Of course. He'll definitely save the day
