Cricket: International Discussion Thread

Bangladesh 111/5 at lunch and need another 210. Looking positive for Zim.

England won the toss and elected to bat in their first test match against Sri Lanka. They are 113/5 and are backs to the wall at lunch.

Not looking good for the Poms. Not sure why Moeen Ali bats so high up.
Really does not make sense. The Poms are trying to balance 2 spin bowlers in the team with 4 seamers. They definitely have it all wrong. One less seam bowler and an additional specialist batsmen. Did not help that Bairstow is out injured.

The tail wags strong again with the newbie being the glue to it all. Could be the difference to outcome of this match.

SL staging a small fight back @ 112/4 - it's going to need a monumental effort to get something competitive.

Dickwella sweeps a ball from Ali. Burns is fielding a short leg. Ducks under the sweetly struck ball. Pins Burns just inside the above the should blade fairly close to his spinal column. That hurt!!!

Ali to Dickwella, 1 run, the sweep has hit Burns at short leg Oooh that will sting. That's hit him on the back of his head, and he's flat on the ground right now, getting some treatment. Dickwella went down to sweep and Burns saw it coming and ducked immediately. The ball pinged him at the top of the spine, on the back of the neck. The medics are out, and Burns was conscious and seemed to be gesturing to describe the pain or where the ball hit him. But he's still flat on the field and receiving treatment.

Looks like he will be OK. He's going off. Probably precautionary medical attention. Good call. That was close to the spine and quite high up. Safety first.

How's the pitch in the Eng vs SRL match? Is it the same schit type of pitch they gave us?

It looks decent enough. It is turning, but not unplayable. Have not seen all dismissals, but appears SL batsmen are mostly meekly coughing up their wickets.
