Cricket: International Discussion Thread

Conway takes another catch!! This one went a mile up into the night sky and Conway swallows it. Philippe gone!!

After some deep reflection I am starting to think I am more a NZ cricket supporter than a SA cricket supporter. I always liked them as my second team to cheer for but of late SA cricket is so dismal and hard to get behind I find I am more likely to follow a NW game than a SA one. Sad but true.

I hope no one in India was watching Glen Maxwell today :p 1 (5) with the bat and 1 over for 9 runs.

I really hope people aren't going to suggest we let conway get away. He is a late developer, was averaging 21 for lions & dolphins.

Happy for him that he has turned things around. But this isn't a case where he didn't get chances.

India England, just woke up and thought I had missed the morning session. Game hasn't even started yet. Forgot it's pink ball day night test. This could be epic!

England have won the toss and have opted to bat

Virat Kohli:
We would have batted first as well. We would look to get into the game early on. The practice wickets have been quite spicy. Something that we have enjoyed as a team. It is such an exciting atmosphere here at the largest cricket stadium. I am a bit worried about the lights. We have played in a similar stadium in Dubai. You need to adapt pretty quickly. Bumrah comes in for Siraj and Washington Sundar comes in for Kuldeep Yadav. We wanted to have a spinning option and Washi provides a lot with the bat as well. And having cushion with the bat helps especially in this situation when we bat second as the game could be evened out after the first innings.

Joe Root: We are gonna bat first. Hopefully, we will get a big score like the first Test. Hoping the wicket will dry out as the game goes along. It is certainly harder and seems to swing more compared to the red ball. We are very excited to be here 1-1 and are looking to do well. Four changes. Anderson, Archer, Bairstow, Crawley back in. Burns, Lawrence, Stone, Moeen Ali out.

England, it seems, is slowly getting mauled, capitulating, or something along those lines :(

Tea: 81/4 (27)

First round goes to India.

England 112 (48.4) with 53 from Zak Crawley. Axar Patel 6/38 and 3/26 from Ashwin.
