He has the absolute worst technique ever. Might make a ton of runs at county level, but he's not international material unless he fundamentally changes his technique. Look at what the Mighty Hash did.

No, his technique is fundamentally flawed. His bat swings out, and he's head points 1 way whilst his eyes are looking at the bowler. Then it twirls all over the show before coming into line.
International bowlers work out batsmen incredibly fast nowadays.
I said the same thing to a friend when I saw the guy bat in SA and he never scored in the games he managed to play. This isn't an Adam Gilchrist leftie batting at an ODI rate in a test. He's all over the show and it's showing up in his test runs.
They need to find someone else.

I like the idea of the visiting team getting to decide whether to bat or bowl first. Think it would have made this a closer match if England got first crack at batting.

Then again the toss is such an age-old tradition and adds that element of surprise \ anticipation early on day 1.

I have mixed feelings about this. It is an age-old tradition and it adds an element of spice. But if the visiting team does get to decide to bat or field first, it does ensure that the pitch isn't too heavily slanted. Interesting debate.

What the India win means for the WTC final scenarios:

• India: needs to win the Test series (by any margin), so either two wins or a win and a draw will do it. India is out of contention if they lose any of the remaining Tests, as then the best they can do is draw the series.
• England: must win both remaining Tests. Any draw or loss, and England is out of contention.
• Australia: will be hoping for a drawn series or a 2-1 England series win.

Effectively, one of England or India will be out of contention for the remaining final spot after the third Test.

He did change it in fact. Where his bat used to come up towards the wickie and then swivel around to face the bowler, it eventually just came up and to 1st slip which is the textbook backlift.
Burns's technique is just wrong. Might work for him in county cricket which is OK, but not at international level where his average now hovers around 30-31.

Chris Morris, the South African allrounder, became the IPL's most expensive overseas player ever signed at an auction after he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crore ($2.2 million). Morris was at the centre of a fierce bidding war involving four different teams, with the Royals eventually beating out Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings to sign the player. Morris had previously played for the Royals during the 2015 season and was the team's joint-highest wicket-taker that year with 13 scalps.
