CRICKET: SA v India

please note that the pitch they played on was a carpet, the WI bowlers used what was left for bowling in the first inns, that left us with pretty much nothing to work with as bowling.Soon as that ball left our hands it would just simply loose all pace and sit up nicely for the WI batsman. We got it wrong and Gale got it right.

last night SA was like a pack a hungry dogs!!! and smith was the poddle at the back of the pack!! they were foaming at the mouth!!! hows bouchs leg side attempt for that catch!! omg!! now that was the old SA team/bowling i know.

Thats the problem, We do great on pitches that suit us. How about pitches that dont? we dont have the variety in spin bowling which is our main problem. As Rahul Dravid rightly pointed out. In India we suffer as much as the Indians suffer here.
Thats y i respect the aussies so much, the have variety. the reason is they are brought up in an environment that helps both spin and fast bowling, not jst fast bowling.....

Can we act like hungry dogs on a sluggish pitch with nothing to offer our paceman? i doubt it. And remember the world cup will be on sluggish pitches..Did you guys hear that Johan Botha has been cleared and can bowl internationally again? I was so happy when i heard that cos he is far better than any spinner weve had EVER! We definately need a real spinner for the world cup. Peterson and boje just dont cut it. Guys like lara,Ponting will tear boje and peterson in their sleep. They will also tear any of SA's bowlers on a pitch like that....

the wanderers game vs aus will lead us to the world cup despite smiff - closed the circle from trent bridge 99 and you really cannot lack for confidence while that result remains fresh in the head

having said that we desperately need a plan b for when it is not a seamer-friendly surface (and plan b is not smiff trundling down nonspin)

true ,We as south african are raised in medium/fast,and hardly any spin. But when ever has SA ever had a world class spin bowler?ever?

SA will always be like this, its something we need to work on but nothing seems to be done about it,esp at grass root levels.

Whats-'is-face? :D Can't remember his name now - he just quit commentating on Supersport. he was about the best we've had, IMO.

Pat Symcox? Omar Henry? Those are about the only two we've had apart from "can't turn the ball" Boje.

heh, the best close up shots ever were when symcox wa batting was about to hit balls for 6. his eyes would get so huge..

Kallis is not an opener

why would u send Kallis in as an "opener"? Surely, u have a plan that if a wicket falls early u, like in da first over, send someone like Gibbs or even AB in?? Kallis , as good as he is, cannot be expected to come to bat facing just the 3rd delivery of the match?

The Saffers looking for an early shower by the looks of things. Is it hot in Cape Town today?
