Cricket: Test Cricket

Great work boys! A well deserved win. And congrats to AB and Duminy - 2 class innings' and poses an interesting selection dilemma if Prince is fit for the boxing day test. Awesome - was such a great way to start my Sunday.

THE BOYS MADE US PROUD!!!

:D I'm sure that will keep the aussies quiet for a day or two

Reviewing...

Not having a dig at anyone, just interesting to go back and read some comments. :D
Test cricket is played over 5 days guys

Absolutely fckn pathetic. I hope AUS rape SA
LOL!

Fckn chokers! No one can tell me otherwise. It happens way too often. It would've been a perfect day for SA, until that last 10 overs. Geeziz.
still the choker label

Today, I am disgusted to be a South African
Not today :D

Yeah it was pretty disappointing watching the batsmen capitulate like that. We've seen it more than once the last couple of seasons, horrid!!! They sometimes perform like a bunch of part timers and that can only be cause they train like a bunch of part timers. I really wonder about the work ethic of the likes of Graeme, Jacque and Mark under the guidance of Mickey"mouse"Arthur...
These part timers beat the mighty Ozzies in Oz :D

I read somewhere on the internet that SA are like a dog that keeps on chasing the car and when finally within grasp they don't have an idea what to do next.
Somewhere on the internet today it reads: SA FTW!!!!!

But some faith in the team...
im holding thumbs for SA coming out on top on day three.....never say die !!! (until tomorrow :) )

As I said.. no dig at anyone just fun to see the emotions change over 5 days

Well they need to get rid of McKenzie somehow - all his superstitious cr@p hasn't helped him it seems.

McKenzie has been firing on all cylinders leading up to this test and he we don't have another true opener to replace him - you can't move AB back to opener now. I'm prepared to give McKenzie a shot for at least the next 2 tests to prove himself. One of the few times I will say I have faith, but I do have faith that McKenzie will come to the fore and prove why he is the right man for the opener position. He has got out to some pretty good deliveries lately, and if he gets in, he usually stays in...

I'll try to get a little faith, but you know how hard that is for me ;)

Nope, never have been. I think he lacks mental toughness. He has a fairly good average, I must concede.

I actually think McKenizie's strength is his mentality at the wicket. Just have a look at his strike rate for evidence of this. One doesn't score 2 double hundreds in one domestic season, and numerous centuries without mental "toughness". He needed the break from international cricket to develop as a batsman. Back when he was first selected and was batting middle of the order, I would have agreed with you, but he's worked on that and it's evident in his performances since then. He deserves his spot IMO.

BTW, who else would you have opening with Biffy in McKenzie's place?

I'd hazard a guess that you'll find faith in the McKenzie god by the end of this tour. His parents must have been gods to produce his sisters...

Agreed. McKenzie is tougher than most. Been a fan for yonks now.

I'm holding thumbs. As to opening - Amla maybe?

I'd leave Amla where he is. Especially during such a crucial series, one cannot mess around with the batting order too much. Besides, the Amla/Kallis combination has proven to be a lethal one on more than one occasion. I like the top half batting order - up to Boucher. It's a solid foundation, with experience and aggression where it is needed. It is the lower half that really bothers me. I would have loved to see the selectors take a chance in the series' leading up to this tour with Albie Morkel. He's a great all-rounder, but his temperament needs to shift if he expects to be selected for the test team, however he does need to be afforded the opportunity to prove that he has the ability to "stick around".

It's our NEW FORMULA batting lineup!

OLD FORMULA - numbers 1-4 made stuffall, usually about 95 for 5, but we romped home with big 8th and 9th wicket partnerships!

NEW FORMULA - numbers 1-7 mostly perform, like in most other teams LOL!

:D:D

Gone are the days of Alan Donald/Pat Symcox 200 run partnerships then...:p
