Cricket: The Women's Cricket Thread

Saffa's could do with a break through now. This partnership is becoming a menacing one!

Not sure we got the minerals to chase 280-300. Lizelle Lee's retirement has left a massive chasm at the top of the order. The tone of the innings is determined by the openers...

Does Sune not bowl at all any longer? Eish, marra why?
She is currently picked as a professional fielder. Doesn't bowl anymore and hardly makes runs these days.

SA have missed a trick here. Made it too easy for these two to get set. Should have made it harder to get singles at the start of the partnership.

Some knock Smriti!! Impressive! Class!

It worries me that there very few century makers in the women's lineup... Lee was one, Laura definitely but no one else, Sune at her peak, Kapp definitely...

Give Kapp the captaincy.

Not even going to watch. We simply do not have the right captain or even the confidence to win a match,

Disappointing. Allowing them to get to 265 from 99/5 first and foremost was poor.
Very.

Our batting is a bit of a worry. If Laura fails, it leaves the rest some what exposed. This tour is a repeat of the 2021 edition. We dominated in 2021 on the back of gun performances from Lee and Laura. But Lee set it up at the top of the innings and the rest contributed! Laura is going to have to do that job in 2024. 30%-35% of the innings runs, she needs to score.

Anyway, replacing the likes of Lee, Dane, Ismail, Mignon... proving challenging... Kapp getting there too. One wonders where the talent to replace is coming from.

Brits, Khaka, Klaas, Kapp and Anneke all 30+.

Where was Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk today? She's also over 30 (Chloe).

Lara Goodall? Out of form/not selected?

There's a helluva long winded rebuilding process ahead of them... always enjoy watching them play though, one will need to temper expectations for the next 3 to 4 seasons...

Eish. Chasing the other night didn't go well so hopefully they've learnt those lessons. Let's hope they're more ruthless with ball in hand this time if they get India into a difficult position, and not let them off the hook.
